From what I can gather Hoskins had a err...................disappointing game. I look forward to read balanced personal reports on the game.

You gather wrongly. Wink

Facey was hopeless!

It was he who gave away the stupid free kick from which Grimsby scored wasn't it? Have to agree, did nothing good after he came on. I hope he will come back in to form as we all know how good he can be.

Taylor had a reasonable game after being poor. Long may it continue.

The far from good - Hoskins, Taylor, facey, McWilliams, o,toole

The ok - turnbull, Powell, Cornell

Very excitable away support? I don't suppose there is much to get excited about in Grimsby.

Interesting and listening to KC appraisal after the game who said bascically the passing was poor and we lacked quality when we had the time to be more constructive. It was a pretty brutal assessment with certain players maybe shown the door come January. Certainly no wishy washy shown. An elderly relative has told me (at game) that the midfield was poor, nobody could pass, Hoskins not poor or good, Cornell and Turnbull ok. He assured me that Turnbull sub was purely tactical (he thought) - so thats a relief! Glad we have KvV at mo' !!!

I personally thought everyone was poor. Nobody had a good game or stood out.

Taylor woeful, absolutely dreadful. What's happened to JJOT?

The Turnbull sub was tactical, it's just I think most would have preferred if it had been Taylor taken off.

I've been saying that for ages.  A case of style over substance.

We were keeping it tight until Taylor came back into the team #Carthorse
I'd be well pissed off with that substitution if I were Turnbull.

Taylor’s distribution (and that of a few others) was flipping awful.  That lunge he did on the edge of the box second half.....Jesus wept what was that all about.

Hoskins didn’t look interested today, no energy, no running or closing down and of course the final ball wasn’t obviously bad as he didn’t ever have it in an attacking position.  Powell did more in 15 minutes than Hoskins all game.

O’toole needs dropping as does McWilliams for Tuesday on the assumption crooks is fit.  facey well, we may have been better off with 10.  The bloke behind me nearly imploded and predicted correctly the end result when he gave that stupid free kick away.

Biggest problem today is JJOT and McWilliams being well off form. The return of Taylor's hoofball from the back not helping either.

Think avoiding that yellow card may explain JJOT not being at his best in the last few games. We'll see if that changes now.

You are correct in that Turnbull was not pleased to come off. However, Williams was even less pleased and Waters looked incredulous when Williams came on as the final sub. It's good they want to play though?

Sounds like we're up for a fair few changes in Jan. Some pieces of the puzzle don't fit and there's some better pieces available.

Oh, and you can criticise Hoskins all you want Fernando but to say he had no energy, running, or closing down is frankly laughable.

Yes Turnbull sub was tactical, the back line was all over the place. Three centre halves and a left back, what was that about.  Taylor should have come off, Turnbull was much the better player out of the two.
Hoskins did his normal headless chicken routine. Buchs gave it his all, shame his legs are two yards behind his brain all the time. Facey was awful when he came on and gave away the needless freekick which they scored from. A welcome point again, but, against a decent side we would have been beaten out of sight.

Was Taylor told to hit EVERY ball long over the midfield or was it his choice?

Zonal marking does not mean loading the near post when Grimsby loaded the far post with 5 players, watch their second goal!

How about passing the ball to fellow teammates all game, as we did for the first 30 minutes

Where are those that said we are a top 7 side ?
Some way off yet .
The frustrating thing is that some of our better players are way out of form.
John joe is lucky to still be in the side at the minute and McWilliams has dipped as young players do .
Curle seems to think players are not carrying out instructions and he’s probably right but the constant chopping and changing can’t help.
Mid table is about right for us at the minute

That's gutting if that's the case - we're half the team when he's missing. If we can get van veen and crooks into most of our starting lineups until the end of the season we'll be there or thereabouts, if not then forget it.
