Do you think there is anyone in our squad who is "in demand" from another club?

This has a big bearing on how business is conducted in January. Say someone came along and gave us money for Crooks on January 1st we'd have the month to get replacements in. Bit different if someone comes and "panic buys" Crooks on January 29th!

I can't see anyone coming in without anyone getting shifted out, not anyone of any value anyway. We don't have any Chinese money (!) to squander this January, nor are we in any real danger of going down like last season.

Yes! I can hear the gasps of shock [more likely disbelief] as you read... Leicester City!

Iaciofano has had an injury recently, which might explain why bigger non-league teams aren't taking a punt on him.

I agree with others that we should be utilising this youth team in the first team squad. From what I've seen, Jay Williams, Camron McWilliams and Morgan Roberts look ready to play minutes at this level, though I appreciate Jon Brady may see it differently!

I don't think losing Ash Taylor would be a blow for the wages he's on, but for me even though Crooks blows hot and cold we create absolutely nothing without him, so losing him would be a disaster, as it would losing van Veen.
Spot on, Fez. Joe was injured for most of the 2nd half of last season and then had another injury in pre-season. These injuries have hampered his progress but I've not seen a more natural finisher at our level. Also bear in mind how little he is earning: as a comparison, less that 10% of what Kasim earns. On that basis I think he's worth sticking with a little longer. He will get stronger and that could make all the difference.

Wouldn't be right to give the name but I'm sure it will become public soon enough. The Club will try to sign him on a pro otherwise he will leave on the cheap.

Jay Williams no doubt...should have had a deal for him tied up weeks ago!

KT did say in his last interview he was "relaxed" about the contract situation with regards to the youth players  Roll Eyes

Agents are involved with the young players and influencing some of the decision making that might seem obvious to the rest of us

Let's hope we can hang on to at least a few that are promising in the youth team.

With us seemingly unable to find a decent right back and playing Shaun there, I cannot fathom why his brother hasn't got some minutes there over Powell/Hoksins/Waters etc.

Agents are a very murky world. If only football was a sport where the best players get the chances.

Cam McWilliams is a nice little player. The under 18's probably play more of a technical passing game than the 1st 11 though.

Williams has everything that would catch a scout's eye, composure, athleticism, frame.

Pollock just makes space for himself and looks a level above. He'll be snapped up at some point.

Will be criminal if the young lads don't get first team minutes. Morgan Roberts is very decent in full flow. Iaciofano is a pure finisher, not sure what loaning him out to the depths of non-league is going to achieve. You're never going to turn him into a utility forward as is currently fashionable.

If we end up losing any of the current crop of youth players then surely serious questions need to be asked as to the viability of the whole set up.

The viability was under question as soon as the Elite Player Pefrormance Plan came in. Only slightly mitigated by the Checkatrade money.

Unfortunately we have no control over that situation .
We also have little control over where the players go on loan . If their agents suggest otherwise , it causes issues .
It all depends on how committed Keith Curle is to blooding youngsters in division 2 . It’s as simple as that.

Not many of them have agents. JB has total control on who goes out on loan and when. It's completely down to the club.

A necessary evil I'm afraid. If you're a young player who gets released a good agent will provide options. I've seen that with some of those realised in recent years. The ones with good agents seem to have trials arranged for them.

Not entirely true I’m afraid .
There is an influence at youth level but KC makes the decision and players agents can affect that decision.
It just depends on the individual involved
