The appalling weather played a big part in what was a very poor game between two very average teams.  That said, to think all those on the pitch wearing claret shirts apart from Odoffin were in our L1 squad last season tells you the truth about what KC has inherited.  They almost all looked with a couple of exceptions run-of-the-mill L2 players at best.  January looms large now and an opportunity for KC to reshuffle the pack. The challenge will moving on some of the under-performers.

^^^This.

We're an average side. Mid table at best but that at least gives something to build on next season. Given he inherited a disjointed rag bag of individuals ("that lot in there") that weren't playing as a team, KC has done well to steady the ship. Not always pretty but way better than the dirge we've been served up for the past 2 years.

I was disappointed with the draw after the game but we have closed the gap on the top 7. All this talk of being a mid-table team and building for next season is stupid talk. I've looked at the fixtures for the weekend  and a lot of the teams in the top half play each other, so if Northampton can do their bit,  the gap will be closed further. An average of two points a game (almost on course for this under KC) would mean a possible play off berth.

I admit, I feel additions will need to be made to gain promotion, but I trust that Keith Curle will have identified what he needs to improve in certain areas.

I thought it was an awful game. I'd honestly forgotten how bad Lge 2 was. What I really can't get my head round is why with Taylor going off at half time ( according to KC he was playing at 75% ) why did he replace him with Hoskins? We were under no pressure, surely Odefin should have replaced Taylor. Bringing on Hoskins not only change the shape off the team but also he was anonymous throughout the 2nd half IMO. Have to say this is my 1st gripe at KC.

It’s also stupid talk if you think we are anywhere near promotion contenders this season . There is no evidence whatsoever of us being good enough for a challenge . Next season should be a different matter once Curle has a chance to churn.

Those talking promotion need to remember, Keith Curle has never achieved a promotion in his 17 years as a manager, what makes you think this will be his year

I agree.

As soon as Curley-Cobblers was appointed, it was clear that we now have a Manager who can get to the Gristle....

Might work in reverse with Bowditch getting a hat trick.

Interesting that he had his best game in a cobblers shirt getting our goal. Just a shame he squandered a couple others otherwise my thoughts may have come true. Enjoyed listening to a few old farts moaning that he had been selected for the game in the first place. Wonder what they thought after the game?
