Sad to see how the club is at the minute
Can’t match forest green on or off the pitch.
Get your heads round that.....
Forest green.
Better ground
Better team
Better prospects....

.....and happy new year to you

Sure we are not in a great place but your comments are based on a negative obsession rather than fact

Better ground - well few would agree on that
Better team - probably just edged it today but pretty close
Better prospects - a village location with around 2000 home fans so unlikely

To be fair we made a real good game of it second half and could have quite easily won it. Cornell made a couple of great shot stops , but was yet again beaten from outside the box, although i thought it got a deflection off Buchs i think ? so he might have had it covered. It was a shame because, they are a top 6 team and were no better than us, in fact i will go as far as saying we were the ones pushing for a winner once we equalised.  Foley was my MOM , closely followed by Turnbull, who had another good game. Also thought Jay Williams played very well, until his booking . All in all , a good day out, barring the score, although had to smile when i read Shoey's comments on a better ground, really, it's so non league it's unbelievable and adequate for their needs, only getting 2300 home fans on a bank holiday. Another good turnout from Cobbs fans, pity FGR's number 20 and 8 gave a lot of verbal abuse at the end, a steward near me said it had been reported though, it's bad enough losing at the death like that, well done Foley for getting the point across.

Unlikely but defiantly not impossible, we really are a complete shambles.

The shambles played well  today.

Tbf they do have a swanky new ground, training facilities and eco park going to planning next month.

I have just come back from FGR and assure nothing swanky about their ground.

If you actually bothered to read posts properly before going off half cocked you'll have noticed that he said they have a swanky new ground in the pipeline.

Doesn't look like there was a deflection on the winner to me - I think it just went in via a weak hand from Cornell.

Is there a manual that football managers pick phrases from for their after-match appraisals? I think we have reached a point where we need to move to some sort of post-football speak.

Am sure you meant exciting Wink
Keep out of trouble and if in need blow the bugle.
Happy New Year !

Yes, I did Smiley Didn't need the bugle today Cheesy

Well, I felt that we were worth a draw today. Some good performances from Foley, Turnbull, J Williams and glimpses from crooks. Not quite sure how Hoskins missed that chance from Bowditch's cross. It had to go in! Looked to me like the winner caught the back of one of our players on the way through leaving Cornell only able to get a hand to it although I am sure he will still be disappointed it went in. We had enough time to stop the shot in the first place.

At this point I think the playoffs are now beyond us and we look unlikely to go down. I would settle for shipping out three or four players and replacing them with younger players already at the club. Absolutely no point in panic signings. Ward is already back at Reading so I heard today so that is one out, Kasim, Waters and one of either Crooks, Pierre or van Veen is my bet.

My thought at the time was that it may have taken a deflection as Cornell had had a good game making two very decent saves. But having seen it again, it definitely didn't and it was a very weak hand. He will be very disappointed to have lost us a point.

Equally, Sam Hoskins will be very disappointed to have not won us 3 points. I've not seen it again as yet but it was a sitter missed by him with minutes to go.

I thought the main difference today was the two managers though. Theirs made positive substitutions which totally changed the game in their favour. Ours sadly wasn't as proactive. Curle seriously needs to determine his best 11 and start playing it regularly. It's a bit concerning that he hasn't reached this after 3 months in charge. 5 changes today was far too many.

Issues with my mothers health, meant that I could not attend today. So, "yes or no?", I shall leave to the pundits on here. However, one win in the last ten league games, OK, theres been a lot of draws, is leaving a bit of a flat feeling with me.
By the way, I am quite fond of the sobriquet "knocker". It has a nice ring a ding to it.  Grin
Happy new year.

Hi Dan,

Good shout!

Those margins are so fine.

I think this was a last chance to get players in the shop-window for him to move on.

A last minute lapse cost us a point (which we would all have been happy with, before the game).  Whereas an almost last minute lapse could have won us the game..... (dreams?)

Despite all else, I think Curley-Cobblers has done well to get stability, whilst trying to find out who has the match-day mentality.

Expect some surprises in the January transfer window.

Curley-Cobblers rules!

pass

Apparently it was the unfortunate Buchanan who got the deflection; somebody mentioned that Buchs may have unsighted Cornell. If its ok with you I prefer to pass opinions on what I saw and appreciate the comments of others actually there.
