Unfortunately we have a team of losers. Until over 50% of what we had last season leave we will not progress.
I agree but the trouble is the players that came in over the summer are no better and chances are any coming in this window won’t be either.

Convince me this is better than when Dean Austin was here . I don’t see a lot of difference in league position and would argue the football is worst
So Dean Austin had a point then? The squad is just demoralised, used to losing and too comfortable with losing. Manager chops and changes trying to find the right formula, is there a right formula?? We need to (IMO) get rid of a lot of players, but they aren't going anyway. If there were any scouts there tonight who in our team would have caught their eye? We'd struggle to get rid of this lot in a fire sale.....but its really what is needed.

Difference is that Austin had a transfer window to sort it out and he didn’t. Let’s see how the next few weeks go
KC needs to decide his best team let alone his system! According to Sammo KC played what he thought was his best side! The trouble he ended up with two very small forwards who we passed high balls too all the game! The first half lacked ambition although we did play the ball well from the back that is until it reached halfway. The problem is we had no real cutting edge up front apart from the occasional foray by Hoskins. Until Bowditch was subbed on 60 minutes I did not realize he was playing! I thought Morais was a waste of space; ok he had poor service but seemed unable to find suitable open spaces to receive the ball. He has to understand his limitations first and most importantly his team mates also! Their first goal came about through defensive inability to clear the ball and even then BR needed a huge slice of luck to take advantage of a ricoshet. The second goal against was fannying around at the back ,BR hassled ending with Facey giving them a golden opportunity to score ....simply terrible. Then Powell and Bridge came on and things improved with Crooks at last showing with some determination too. His was a well struck shot but their goalie should have saved it or at least palmed it away. The last ten minutes was frantic pressure against a ropey BR defense; in fact BR lost all shape in the last 10 minutes but we failed to capitalize on it. Forwhat ever reason we lost a game where we should have done a lot better. I was disappointed with KC team selection and thought the system of wingbacks was a waste of time without the right personnel involved. Bridges should have played from the outset. We are missing too many influential players, JJOT, A Williams, Pierre and S.McWilliams. Could have done with vV today! PS When Pierre came on he led by example and did well.

Totally agree. Any news why Andy Williams was not involved tonight. How many of these four are we expecting to be still here come the end of the transfer window

Perhaps rotating the squad is the most likely way to get a performance. God forbid the players go further into the comfort zone safe in the knowledge they are one of Curlio magnificent 11? Just a thought.

Apparently he has a foot injury. A bleed causing pressure on a nerve. Difference between the two sides was not great . They were simply better than we were without the ball. Facey was poor. The header straight to their striker to score what turned out to be the winner was just one of his balls ups. Their goalmouth scrambled shot went in , ours stayed out. Bowditch took a stud to the top of his foot and Taylor also off injured. J Williams had quite a good game. Nice that we finally got his and the younger McWilliams contract sorted.

Sammo was right that we improved when KC 'EVENTUALLY' moved Crooks forward to influence our creativity in the final third. Morias must have Williams alongside hm so we have a chance of holding the ball up front for the midfield to join them.
I think KC is too negative and has slipped into JFH's thinking of worry too much about the opposition, instead of imposing our positive play on them.
KC needs to look in the mirror to decide how much his negativity is at fault. It will be interesting his selection for the Carlisle game on Saturday;
Cornell
Taylor, Turnbull, Pierre
Facey, McWilliams, Foley, Cox (Powell?) Crooks Morias, Williams
ONE win in THIRTEEN games is unacceptable, especially with most of the squad we have!

I know powell's finishing is not great but surely he needs a run in the first team, always causes opposition defences fear better than morias (poor mans bayo) and like turnball earlier nust needs a run in the team. Bridge was superb when he came on, the two of them injected pace and desire.

Agree with most of the other comments on last night.Boring, negative tactics for 65 minutes with only Morias up front.Rovers just about deserved the lead.Bridge and Powell come on , 2 up top, Crooks starts playing nearer our centre forward than our centre half and we look a different side and could easily have equalised.

True , but he couldn’t get rid of players because they are paid too well or wouldn’t move Curle is more professional but Austin played better football All I’m saying is that there isn’t much difference

Dean Austin was just terrible. Will never see league management again. Curle is doing okay under the bad circumstances he's inherited (which are now worse circumstances following the loss of one of our few good players).

Austin said this squad was good enough and there was no need for changes last summer!

Bristol Rovers were awful. Sadly we are beyond awful.
3 hours ahead of UK where I am and past midnight I couldn't be arsed to watch the second half so can only comment on the first half where there was a total lack of quality from both sides - in fact compared with his last game at Sixfields the ref was my MOM I know it's fashionable to knock Taylor but the dip in reasonable results to relegation form since his inclusion surely cannot be ignored for much longer - I'm still not sure we are so bad we will be dragged into a relegation dogfight but with the current squad I'm predicting a 17th finishing position which is frankly pathetic!

....? because he is no longer good enough - his contribution in the games he has played has been poor and so disappointing compared with him at his best - be it injury, lack of motivation or old legs I completely understand why he is in the cold.

Don't get me wrong. I want KC to stay and do well and perhaps with one or two more signings we'll see a difference. He deserves the chance at least to bring in some of his own players. However, is he really doing well now? He was for the first few games when we went back to basics and looked really up for it, but we've been MUCH less convincing for the last month and seem to have lost a bit of fight too. We were second to most balls again last night and there are more and more similarities appearing with the JFH and DA days. KC is still talking about building, but performances and results suggest he did well in the his first ten games and things have gone largely downhill since then. I'm not calling for his head and I hope and expect him to keep us up and get somewhere near a mid-table finish, BUT he is being given an easy ride as there is so little pressure on him as long as we stay out of relegation danger. Remember that DA was sacked for 1 win in 11 games and KC's current record is little better (more draws than under DA in his current run). The common factor in all these poor runs we've had recently under different managers is of course the same set of players. However, unless other teams come in for them (and why would they in most cases?) we probably can't afford to bring in many new players and will carry on with an oversized, underachieving squad until contracts run out. DA didn't manage to get rid over the Summer and KC could have the same problem.

I said that about Taylor CW. I can’t really work out why either, it’s beyond my punditry capabilities. Mind you that’s not saying much, especially with some of the camera work on ifollow. It doesn’t help that when the alarm wakes me up I can’t be arsed to put me laptop on and end up watching on the phone.

Well this is my opinion for what its worth (nothing ) We need to ditch the 3-5-2 because we haven't got the players for it, seems like we draw names out the hat to play right wing back, we've had Hoskins , Waters, Powell and even Van Veen at Newport, the one thing they all have in common is they can't play as a wing back. Calderwood was there last night and you can guarantee he will tell his Cambridge team to attack us down the flanks, there are massive gaps where the full backs should be all the time. As others have stated, with Taylor in the team, we concede goals, last night was the second game running where the opposition player has managed to turn on our 6 yard line and score. Curle found a defence that looked solid soon after he got here, Odoffin, Pierre, Turnbull and Buchs, why doesn't he go back to that? I wouldn't have Facey anywhere near the team, I can't remember him having ONE decent game this season. We also need some variation in our play, every throw is a long throw, virtually every corner we try a short one and then the cross hits the first man or clears everyone. Short goal kicks and playing out are OK but not every time, in the second half Rovers just pressed up on us and knew that they would get the ball after a couple of passes. I fully understand KC wanting to give all the players a chance but the time has come to stop p*ssing about with 4 changes every game and if something is not working, don't carry on doing the same thing.

Disappointing performance. We just didn't turn up for the first 65 minutes and only really got going when Crooks scored and Bridge & Powell came on. This was a very good opportunity to advance to the late stages of a cup competition against a side battling relegation in League One. It was an opportunity missed, considering that we showed in the last 25 minutes how we could really serve it up to Bristol Rovers.
I'm not sure if it was negative tactics from Curle that did for us in the first half or just the personnel involved.
Hoskins remained true to form, scurrying feverishly up and down the wing all night. He must have been released down the flank half a dozen times or more and on only one of those occasions did he deliver something resembling a good cross into the box.
Taylor's hoofball also continues, and our defence looked much sturdier when Pierre replaced him.
I hate to say it about a young player but I thought Jay Williams had a bit of nightmare, he seemed to be overrun for a lot of the game, and it was only when Crooks began playing more positively that we wrestled control of the midfield.
Morias played up front on his own in the first half in one of Curle's less revolutionary ideas. Rovers' defence kept him very quiet, and he just doesn't have the stature to win the ball in the air unfortunately. I wouldn't be surprised if his number of touches in the first half was in single figures.
Buchanan and Facey were desperately poor, so I think George Cox may get his opportunity very quickly.
Our game improved massively when we brought on Bridge and Danny Powell- two players with pace and skill on the ball who can actually play a bit, even if Powell's finishing leaves a bit to be desired.
Crooks was trying hard to orchestrate things but unfortunately a lot of the team just aren't on his wavelength, so it was nice to see him take matters into his own hands and just belt the ball in!

Since Curle took over( All Competitions) ….. Games Taylor started...…...P 11 W 1 D7 L 3 Goals for 12 Goals Against 15 Games Taylor didn't start...P 10 W 6 D2 L 2 Goals for 20 Goals Against 10 Draw your own conclusions...
