Taylor has a groin injury .

Yes, I saw him get it against Bristol Rovers. Maybe my statement hasn't been fully understood in the context it was intended. Never mind  Wink

Did anyone notice the return of the Starlings on Saturday? Wheeling around at the back of the East Stand. Is it a coincidence or a sign of better times ahead?

Yes as soon as I saw them and remembered there was no Ash Taylor, I was pretty sure we'd win.

You are quite entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.

I like Morias too and I would not argue with him starting. Just fed up with the mindless (pretending to be amusing and clever) Hoskins baiting!
Well said .
Everyone played their part yesterday , including Hoskins who put their centre halves under a lot of pressure Numpties that pick him out as contributing nothing are frankly embarrassing themselves.
I too would start with Morias but give me Hoskins over that clown Powell any day of the week.

Very honest of you.

Does losing Curle & Sheridan in quick succession indicate that all is not well with the way the club is being "run" by the money-people?

Are you expecting a mass-exodus of players this window?

Cheers Crutchless - just how it was though really.

We are relying on too many loan players this season who have over-performed and put themselves into the shop window meaning that their parent clubs want them back to play or to sell on.

The players that Curle signed are very similar to the ones that you yourselves moved on, on high money but as you can see the players that he signed for us are quality otherwise we wouldn't be in the play-off places but David Holdsworth signs players now to 'look after the books'.

The loan players had gone back before yesterday and our squad is threadbare so a draw is as much as I expected from that game.

Nearly everyone at our place is out of contract come the end of the season so possibly expect to see a few Carlisle United players coming in.

Check out the link below from our site - I think it is a hoax but you never know....

Nobody played badly today, not even Taylor.

Even fist half with a good block on Hoskins shot and a good diving save on the A Williams effort. Dave Cornell made some good routine saves but also one excellent one handed save from a volley to keep it all square at the break. Second half was mostly ours with the odd break away from Carlise. Turnbull, Pierre and Williams dealt with these comfortably. Facey had a much better game and Cox had a very good debut. Foley was his combatant self and McWilliams had a steady game and only tired slightly towards the end. Bridge had been building up to this performance and fully deserved his MOTM. Morias and Powell looked lively when they came on with Morias taking his goal well. A good team performance and a positive reaction today from the sale and loaning of a few players. Looked like we had some breathing space.

Well done Frank - good report.!

Powell contributes more than Hoskins every season though. Much rather Powell on the bench than Hoskins.

Errr I really have no idea where you get that from.
Powell contributes very little to the team .
Hoskins clearly has his deficiencies but you can’t argue he doesn’t contribute. Every manager without exception has picked Hoskins in front of Powell for good reason.

totally agree with this.

on a separate point. at 3-0 up with 15 to play, could that not be an ideal opportunity to give Roberts a chance to get some experience?

I think KC got his team selection spot on against Carlisle. Players in their preferred position, like J.Williams in the back 3, Facey as RWB, McWilliams and Bridge as CM and Hoskins up front. He also made the right substitutions at the right time, bringing on Morais and Powell to freshen up the attack and used the experience of Buchanan to replace the understandably tiring Cox. He should be given the credit he deserves.

The team were much more composed on the ball, moved it quickly and were clearly working hard for each other. This was the best overall team performance for some time.

One could argue for Morais to replace Hoskins up front next game, but I wouldn't change a thing. A word of caution however, I do not expect the next 2 games to be anything like the Carlisle game. Carlisle were clearly a footballing team who liked to build up play from the back and sometimes took an age to fashion out a chance. Cambridge and Morecambe will be much more typical of league 2 opposition who will like to get the ball forward quickly. Our back 3 will have a lot more defending to do, so it should be a good test.

Three good saves from Dai Cornell in the first half kept the score at 0-0 for HT but the play that hasn't been mentioned or included in the highlights is the pin point 60-70yd pass by him from right to left that set up an attack; the pause and gasp of appreciation from the majority in the West Stand was something you very rarely experience at Sixfields.  His distribution over the season has improved impressively to be probably one of the most consistent we have had over the recent years.

We don't really crucify 'our own' as a rule.

We don't really crucify 'our own' as a rule.

Unfortunately, the exceptions break the rule.  Jim Hall, George Reilly, and Graham Felton (who may have been loved by the Hotel End, but used to get some terrible stick from the Terraces) come to mind.

Just an observation (I suspect I might get shot down on this one), but home grown players and ones we sign from elsewhere all wear the same shirt on matchdays?

Unless they do something that is glaringly obvious which deliberately damages the team, crucifying anyone for a genuine mistake does not only affect their morale, but almost certainly the rest of the collective?

Even if they don't read any SM posts, the likes of Cornell and Hoskins almost certainly are aware of the feeling from the crowd if things go wrong at any point in the game. Everyone makes mistakes in the team, but some get overlooked as their overall contribution is seen to be "worthy".

Both players have their limitations but no-one can deny that they are trying their best & until someone else comes along that the manager deems to be better, they will be in the team and therefore deserve our support?
In my opinion, yes, it's OK to have a grumble at a mistake. But it's then our responsibility as supporters to do all we can to help raise their heads again. I am still convinced that the supporters helped win the home game v Plymouth last season by encouraging the whole team for the entire game rather than getting on their backs at the first sign of a mistake.

As I said, I guess I am there to be shot at, but that's just how I feel?
