Nobody played badly today, not even Taylor.

Even fist half with a good block on Hoskins shot and a good diving save on the A Williams effort. Dave Cornell made some good routine saves but also one excellent one handed save from a volley to keep it all square at the break. Second half was mostly ours with the odd break away from Carlise. Turnbull, Pierre and Williams dealt with these comfortably. Facey had a much better game and Cox had a very good debut. Foley was his combatant self and McWilliams had a steady game and only tired slightly towards the end. Bridge had been building up to this performance and fully deserved his MOTM. Morias and Powell looked lively when they came on with Morias taking his goal well. A good team performance and a positive reaction today from the sale and loaning of a few players. Looked like we had some breathing space.

So-so first half, really really good second.

Facey looks so much happier at RWB. The back 3 are better without Taylor. Cox looks like he'll be a good acquisition, and Bridge was like a new signing second half.

Maybe some of the high earning 'star' players were actually a negative influence....

Wow, was not expecting that!

I thought we were average first half, they maybe could have had two or three. We only really had Williams chance which was saved brilliantly. Just like Dai's big save to keep it level. Second half we were a revelation and fully deserved the win, Cornell had little to do other than claim a cross.

Back 5 were spot on today, Pierre was much more vocal than usual as captain. Jay Williams looked so composed, just like Turnbull to be fair. Kid has a bright future I think. Facey was much better at RWB, Cox didn't really do much for me (nobody seemed to pass him the ball first half) but was steady and put some good deliveries in.

McWilliams was back to his old self (even with a yellow card) and Foley combative as always. Bridge was outstanding today, so many clever little touches and turns it makes you wonder why we have only really seen this now? I thought Hoskins worked hard but offered little else today, apart from his hilarious attempt.  Grin

Williams wasn't fully fit, and it showed as he didn't get through half the work he normally does. Industrious enough though. Morias surely must get the start next game over Hoskins, he doesn't work anywhere near as hard but holds the ball up so well for someone short and certainly knows where the goal is. Powell looked decent despite being fouled to death although should have put his chance away after a clever flick from Morias.

I hate to say it, but we actually looked a lot better without the "big guns" and Ash. Does anyone know what happened with Ash? He was tweeting about needing to rush off for a family emergency and it seems some took offense to this?

More of the same please, Mysterious One!

I bet the "Easier Games to Come" thread on the Carlisle forum is going into over drive tonight.

Nah, we were well turned over today.

Hacked off as it was the end of our winning run and if Hope had scored first half I think we might have bagged a draw.

There wasn't any major dodgy decisions or a dirty game so on that basis I cannot moan about anything really.

What an enjoyable game. I predicted a win but never expected that. All the growing apathy leading up to the game as well. A bright first half and a steam rolling second half. Nobody had a bad game. Players seemingly in their favoured positions and everything just worked. I like that back 3. Must keep Taylor out of this team. Jack Bridge playing in a central role worked a treat. A striker and a creative wide player to compliment what we now have will see us safely mid-table. Tim Oglethorpe was banging on about the play-offs again. I love the bloke but come on, give it a rest!

Very honest of you.

Does losing Curle & Sheridan in quick succession indicate that all is not well with the way the club is being "run" by the money-people?

Are you expecting a mass-exodus of players this window?

Cornell clearly at fault for at least two of the goals!

OK, I wasn't at the game...but when has that ever stopped those profering their opinions?  Wink

Totally agree. They've won 6 in a row; we've not won in 6.
Nailed on home win. Place your bets before the bookies realise we always end runs like that at Sixfields.

Taylor certainly didn't play badly today. He was injured so wasn't picked.

A good performance all over the pitch and we ran out worthy winners.

Yes, Carlisle had a couple of chances in the first half, but all the defence (particularly Cornell) did their job.  To be fair the Cobblers had opportunities too, so on the balance of the half a level scoreline at half-time was reasonable.

In the second half though the Cobblers took control of the first 25 minutes, in total contrast to recent home performances. As a result the game was won. Why was this?

In my view it was the fact that the defence connected with the midfield and the midfield connected with the forward players. It is funny really, the greater your control in midfield the better both your defence and forward players look. There certainly was a good energy throughout team ad in midfield. The midfield looked much more together as a unit and the transfer from defence to midfield from Pierre, Turnbull and Jay Wiliams was excellent.

I’ve not been convinced by what I have seen in the past from Jack Bridge, but in this more advanced central role, quite apart from his goals, he was a real handful. Overall there were many fewer misplaced midfield passes. Too early to say if this is how it is going to be in the future, but the fact it happened at all is encouraging.

Finally, to the Hoskins moaners, yes you had your moment just before he went off, but he really kept the pressure on their defence all the time he was on the pitch. They were constantly having to play back and knock it long, so their pattern was disrupted. But, hey, don’t give him any credit.

Agree with most of that then you went and spoiled it with the Hoskins comment, I think Morais needs a go in his place and leave super Sam to amuse us all in the last 20 mins. Seriously Hoskins shouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11.

Did anyone notice the return of the Starlings on Saturday? Wheeling around at the back of the East Stand. Is it a coincidence or a sign of better times ahead?

You are quite entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.

I like Morias too and I would not argue with him starting. Just fed up with the mindless (pretending to be amusing and clever) Hoskins baiting!
