Only one home win in the last 8 games. Time to give the home fans something to cheer (please). Saints at home and the circus also in the area and performing at 2.30 so traffic and parking could be challenging.

This is a big test to see how far we have progressed since Colchester at home and Cambridge away .
We have tightened up , stopped playing the youth team and are playing percentage football , but will it be good enough at home against a decent side ?
I think KC will simply be looking not to concede .

Gusts of up to 40 mph are forecast for Saturday, hopefully it will disrupt Exeter’s passing style more than it does us.

How is it a big test to see how far we've progressed???
Do you not go further than Cambridge away? Think the Cobbs have won at Tranmere, Stevenage and Crewe as well as a draw at table topping Lincoln since the games you've oddly mentioned!

Yes , of course it’s been a great turnaround away from home but are we able play with more attacking intent at home ?
This is what i mean by a test .

This post may come back to haunt me at 5pm on Saturday  Grin

I wholeheartedly believe that the last home game, the infamous 0-0 draw with Crawley, was more a 'must not lose game' than a 'must win game'. I think both managers felt the same, neither at any time risking the point they had banked for 2 more. We were in a precarious position, a bad run of form would have meant we could have slid down the table and become embroidered in a relegation battle. Admittedly, there was only say a 10% chance of that happening but with only a 0.01% chance of the playoffs at that point in time, KC took the point against a team just below us and was happy to do so. I 'get that' and foresaw the approach at the time.

We are now in a situation where we are playing under zero pressure. In terms of the result. However. A point is pretty much a pointless outcome for us. Its 3 or none at all. 9 wins and 2 losses (to get to the play offs) is more likely than 8 wins and 3 draws. Statistically. Either outcome would net us 72 points and based on projected points total, would see us 6th,7th,8th. So right on the edge. Thats surely now got to be the target for Keith and his boys. However unrealistic it is, Id fully expect our focus now to be on aiming at the playoffs whilst its still possible. Just not talking about them!  Wink

Id expect a cautious approach on Saturday to start off with, and then for the game to open up later on. Exeter (I reckon) will happily sit back and wait for us to commit players forward, aiming to do us on the counter attack like so many other teams have managed over the course of this season. Exploit our weakness. On the flip side, Id expect us to set up to negate this so for a time on Saturday, expect a bit of a stale mate. Gung ho at the end if one team needs to...

We do not have the players to set up expansively, especially at home. Our only 'creative attacking players' are Powell and Bowdith, both whom are woefully inconsistent. On loan, early impressions on Joe Powell and Timi both have the same problem. Crookes and KVV were both hugely inconsistent as well. We are well stocked up with solid midfield 'types', our collective strength is an Ian Atkins type line up/approach. Thats what dragged out results in recent times, and what dragged out results during KC's honeymoon spell. When we've tried to pass our way through, be pleasing on the eye etc...its backfired. We do not have the players to do that.

Sorry for the long post, but at the moment we can only judge KC on results and not style of play/entertainment. That has to wait until next season.

Good post Drilling. Spot on about Atkins as well, lets face it Curle took over in a  similar situation to Atkins. The brief for both of them must have been to keep us up.

Same line up again today, or the usual rotating?

Either way, won't get a better chance of a result against these lot. Looking forward to windy hoofball and a stiff neck.

Just remember the win, please.
