Only a couple of weeks after closing the Relegation Watch thread guess what? Here is the play-off watch thread!!

The Cobblers are amazingly now only 8 points off the playoff positions with 10 games to go.

On a good run and with some very winnable games coming up....look at the next 5 games......

Home v Newport, Away v Grimsby, Away v Cheltenham, Home v Port Vale and Away v Notts County.

four wins out of five needed....but on current form very gettable!

They’re not on a great run but when did we last win at Grimsby? Always difficult place to go.

2010....I seem to remember the Fishy fans getting a bit upset on that day!!

Actually we've only lost on one of our last 5 visits there....

2013 FA Cup...lost 0-2
2010 League 2....won 2-1
2006 FA Cup... won 2-0
2006 League 2....drew 1-1
2005 League 2...won 2-1

Imagine had we gone for it in the two games at home against Crawley and Morecambe - the games we settled for a point that were there for the taking - We'd now be 4 points better off and only 4 points of the play. Whilst I hope I'm wrong I think those two results will cost us when it comes down to it.

Really hope we make it but I think it is a bridge too far.

I have got bad memories of the last time we reached a play off final. It just totally enforced my opinion about Boothroyd.
The only plus points were a very early start in the Lord Byron, and a very late finish in the same pub. And the gallow humour that ensued.
And some local idiot taking a leak in the nearby litter bin, whilst still munching on his bag of cheesy wotsits. Pure class.

What a ridiculous season it would end up being if we did make the play offs!

Hope it happens just for the idiocy of it all.

Too much to do I think. Not only do we need to continue this form we also need a good 3-5 sides to start playing like idiots. If we'd have picked up form a month earlier then we may have had a shot but I think it's too late now.

Oh and we don't seem to want to start with our main goal threat on the pitch

We would probably have to break some sort of club record to make it. When you think back comparatively to some of the squads of yore, no it’s not possible. That being said I think most would agree it’s a monumental achievement that we are even discussing this as a possibility?

Argh, so frustrating. We’re talking eight wins from the last 10?

Too little, too late I think. We’ve dropped 18 points from winning positions this season 😩.

I think, that we are even talking about this, proves what a poor league this is this season. Our Champions team from 3 years ago would have hardly dropped a point in this league !

Amazing that we are realistically eyeing the play offs when a few weeks ago the doom mongers had us down as relegation fodder.

Personally I think we'll fall short of the play offs which could be a blessing in disguise as I don't think this side is good enough for League1 (yet)
I see no benefit going up if we're going to struggle.

But if we can finish the season strongly it gives momentum and confidence for next season. A few additions in the summer and have a good crack at it next year.

It is great to be even thinking about the play offs. At least the next few games will have a real meaning to them, especially the 2 consecutive Saturday away games coming up if we can pick up a win on Tuesday. Win these and it will become really interesting, with some of the teams above dropping points, due to playing each other etc, April could be a fun month. Either way, well done KC and the players, we look a solid unit , full of confidence and not many on here thought we would be saying that last Christmas.

I thought Atkins did this and secure promotion via Swansea. Also did Wilson achieve the impossible too?

Four of our last ten are against the current bottom four, would be helpful if their respective fates are decided prior to our games so that they aren't still 'going for it'.

As a long time betting man, I have noticed that once a team's fate has been sealed, that is when they relax and really begin to play.
