If the thread had been titled the redevelopment fan ownership Grimsby game, we would be up to at least 17 pages now. Then locked!

Normal service to be resumed when the unbeaten streak ends.

As for today, Curle should be credited for going for the game (e.g. Sordell came on alongside Willo, which I didn't see happening)

Second half we definitely edged it.

And whilst the actual shots made stats make for grim reading, there were numerous occasions either players were refusing strikes on goal (frustating to see) or just not making quite getting on the end of some decent deliveries into the box.

Over the last few games the so called pundits have noticeably been awol. Your report is appreciated, the conditions were the winner....or leveller!

Absolute dross, awful game between two awful teams who hoofed high balls for the whole 95 minutes in that wind!

Wasn't there so can't judge. But imagine that this report suggests why there hasn't been much to comment about. Because there isn't much to comment about.

Sounds like it was a dire game but we didn't lose and didn't lose any ground on the top 7. I'd say next week is a must win now.

It was a pretty poor game all round , with no real quality from either side, in what much be described as atrocious conditions. The wind played havoc swirling the ball around, so might just be a point gained , rather than two lost. Grimsby were poor, apart from a 10 minute spell first half, with us not that much better if i'm honest. We huffed and puffed and had most of the possession it seemed second half, but didn't really do anything with it, pumping too many high balls forward, if only we had a player who could run with the ball and beat his man. Having said that , if only we had scored, i doubt they would have come back into it, but we didn't ,so on to Cheltenham and if we can win there, 4 points from 2 away games will be a great return at this stage of the season. For me , Foley was my MOM, closely followed by the defence , who all played well again and look really solid, shame we didn't shoot more in the 2nd half when in decent positions and could have nicked it at the end, with a bit more thought. The point keeps the run going and the belief, so not too disappointed. Decent turn out too.

Yes the conditions were bad but neither team played them...why Cornell was still taking goal kicks to the narrow side and seeing them sail out of play on the wind I just don’t know. That said he made a couple of timely interventions and did everything he had to.
We did need someone to get the ball on the deck and run with it...Powell anonymous and Hoskins only a tad better. In a game of little quality I thought that Pierre was outstanding. Strong and solid in defence (Taylor had a few shaky moments and wayward passes, plus that cross near the death...poor) and he also look a threat up front, his run where he beat two or three players was great!

Grimsby were that bad that I didn’t see this as a point gained, they were there for the taking and we....didn’t!

Agree with most of this special mention to super Sam who was dreadful as was Taylor going forward, FFS he struggles to pass the ball 10yards the cross at the end was excruciating 😖

Dreadful game but played in dreadful conditions. Before a ball was kicked, yesterday was all about the result, not the performance.

It reminded me in many ways of the Hartlepool 0-0 away game (conditions aside) which ended our long winning run during our championship winning season.

Our 'solid' players all played well. Pierre, Taylor (cross at the end aside  Grin ), DB, Goode, Turnbull and JJOLT all did their jobs. Cornell did what he had to and did it well but cant recall him needing to make a single challenging save. This sides problem is totally in the creative department, and relying on Powell to open up teams is never going to get us far. He has the ability but only brings it to the party once in a blue moon. Williams is a a bog standard division4 striker. We've seen many of those over the years, a modern day Steve Guinan. He will score 10-15 goals a season but we need better in that position for us to progress.

I think we now have a very solid playoff standard team, very 1997esque. That season we won at Wembley, this season our start killed us when we were trying to play expansive football with players who do not have the necessary attributes for that to work. Of course we had Crookes and KVV back then, BUT they were 1 in 2/1 in 3 players. No surprise that neither player has done anything of note at their respective new clubs and are in and out of their sides.

Im optimistic about next season. If we keep all of the war horses and spend the collective wages of Powell, Williams, Bowdith etc on a decent striker and a decent winger, we could have a top3 challenging team on less wages than the current squad. Which is obviously something to factor in, we know the wage bill is still too high.

You have probably hit most of the nail on the head with that Drillers.
You mention the lack of creation, I am surprised that Jack Bridge hasn't been given an opportunity to be that player more often in a central role. He seemed to do alright in an earlier spell...

Andy Williams is still under contract next season so unless someone’s prepared to pay for him he’ll still be on the payroll.

My group cannot understand this either. At the start of the year he was a revelation in the number 10 role, and hasn't been used there since. Yet Curle has gone 8 games undefeated so isn't getting things wrong by any stretch. It's an odd one.

On the subject of players "breaking through into the first team", is that down to them? They train them as youths, gets them to the position where they are knocking on the first team door, then presumably are good enough to take over and the youths then train with the first team.
They must do their job to get them to a certain position, then its up to the player themselves or the first team coaching staff to kick on from there.

I chuckled to myself reading that.....pretty much spot on, trying to make humour out of what was an awful day.

Slagging off our style in a way that doesn't come across as bitter...….
