And just to put a dampener on things, your referee for this game is Charles Breakspear.

The funny thing is a while ago I was talking to an MK Dons supporting friend of mine who is also a ref at a low level about how appalling this ref is/was for red cards. He told me that he had already heard the same and went back and watched the highlights on YouTube of the games when he red carded players earlier in the season. He claims EVERY decision was correct and most were pretty obvious red cards at that. Maybe we are all wrong? I haven't got the time or inclination to check though!

It is true.

There is a difference between making factually correct red card decisions, and being able to manage games & players in such a way as to minimise the risk of frustrations building & flare ups.
There's also the fact that if you have the reputation of being an official who you can manipulate / get het up, then teams will do their homework to create situations which would generate red cards.

The response I was going to put. In addition, some refs are more lenient than others, this guy does everything by the book/letter of the law. I remember when he sent Buchs off for a 2nd yellow. You couldn't argue against it at the time but you could see it coming, 100%. He should have been subbed. But even so, this ref was totally 'owned' by I think (Shrewsbury) that day. Blokes a complete w@nker!

Is it only me, or do we have this ref more than most others? We've already had him twice and I seem to remember him in charge for at least three games in the last couple of seasons aswell

Everyone seems to think we are a “ strong arm “ team and so surely it’s in the opposition’s favour that we are refereed by this pillock . I don’t get the accusation at all . Compared to some of our sides of old we are powder puff ! I wouldn’t exactly say the likes of Hoskins , Powell , Powell , Buchanan , Bridge , Turnbull , Williams and Morias for example are out of the John Gayle mould .

I think this is more about perception based on a few factors. If you look at our likely team it contains 4 players who would count themselves as central defenders. Foley and O'Toole are probably seen as physical midfield players and I would think A.Williams is also seen as a more physical front man. That leaves Buchs who would be seen as competitor by opposition teams. Therefore only D.Powell and Hoskins from our starting 11 don't fit the mould.

Hardly an Ian Atkins side though . Of all those mentioned , I would say only Pierre and JJOT truly use physicality in their game .

Yup, agree, I was just referring to the perception from outside. Like I say if you fit 4 central defenders and a taller striker into the team you’ll inevitably be seen that way. Those who see us every week will know different of course

For those heading in by train, other pubs to check out are the Whittle Taps and Sandford Ale House. Really looking forward to this one. Unlike Feelgood, I've got an oddly good feeling about it

Unlike Feelgood, I've got an oddly good feeling about it Cheltenham are no mugs at home... unfortunately, see a 1-3 defeat and the first double of the season against us! Love getting predictions wrong though! Now we've got rid of the two or three twats who never actually go to games... Sorry, love to be wrong...too often correct!

Good point made about location of coach drops. There's a good number of pubs near the ground if you're on coach or driving. Our last point of call will be the Kemble if you're looking for Town fans hopefully see a decent following?

Should be a decent away turnout for this one, well over 500 I'd imagine. I'm driving down, can't decide whether to go cross country through the Cotswold villages of Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow, Bourton-on-the-water, or down past Oxford and on to the A40.

Expect an early bath for a couple of players.
Nice to see Tozer still plying his trade. One of the heroes of Anfield.
I can see a battle of the long-throwers emerging....
Every one of the players needs to be confronting the tit in the black, even before he gets to start the game. In his face. Let him wield cards. Lose more than 4 from one side & it's match abandoned. Then, hopefully, it will be HIM getting the lifelong ban from attending football matches.
His mere presence on the pitch makes it 12 v 11, so, I am going to make one of my rare predictions.....
(No time for sentiment, sour grapes, or feeling hard done by.)
1-2 to us.
Fun in the sun.
