So what did we learn at Cheltenham? 1) Hughes is no replacement for Pierre: 2) We have no adequate replacement for Turnbull: 3) Anyone with a bit of pace or power is too good for Ash to handle: 4) Hoskins is getting money under the false pretence that he is a professional football player. 5) JJOT feels they have done enough for this season and are not bothered about playoffs 6) A great number of the others agree with JJOT. 7) Waters cares not a jot about the Cobblers. He sat close to me and was up and out of his seat for all 3 goals - mind you his lady is a real babe. Cool We will struggle for the rest of the season..... Oh and yes 9) the ref was worse than we even knew beforehand. The bloke has serious problems.
Point 4 is now beyond a joke !!!

A disappointing result really brings on the critics; last week was quiet , now this week already upto 6 pages!

I think the point here is partly to do with the fact that more people from the board went to the game yesterday. It was also started 6 days before the game rather than 1 so had more time for content.

In regards to Athenas post, it's hard to disagree with any of it. Can anyone please remind us who is out of contract in the summer? I truly hope that most are binned off so that we can properly rebuild the squad.

There is a thread - Players out of contract. I will open it back up.

This game smacked of players that know they are on the way out .
Contracts that are less lucrative or deals not forthcoming .
Apathy all round the team .
I think there may be a bit more of this by the end of the season because many of these players won’t be here and they will already be looking at new deals elsewhere .

There is a level of disharmony in the camp - more so from the bench. Feel sorry for Jack Bridge. Most of the others are on the bench for good reason.

Jack bridge is our most creative player and should be playing .
The others on the bench deserve to be there , but it’s some of the players in the first eleven that I believe are just seeing out their contracts , knowing they are off .

The more I think about that team selection the more annoyed I get. We had/have a realistic chance of a go at the playoffs and he picks two youth teamers! I know Williams is highly thought of, but that is as a centre half not holding midfield. I didn't even know who Ryan Hughes was, I had to look him up. I'm sure there's quite a few possibilities but this is what I believe the team should have looked like.

Cornell
Facey Goode Taylor Buchs
Hoskins JJ Foley Bridge
Sordell Williams

If he was desperate to play one up front then drop Sordell and add Daniel Powell. Either way I'm sure that looks a better selection

Agreed, I was surprised that he didn't go with something similar.

It was unfair on Hughes especially to be brought into adult football in that way and if he thought that it wasn't, based on what he has seen in training etc., I would query his judgement.
Unfortunately Ryan Hughes looked like exactly what he was, a young lad playing in a man's game.  I hope that this hasn't done him any damage.

Exactly .
He did precisely the same thing at Cambridge . Played two youngsters together and we got bullied when there were other options available .
He could have played Jay Williams but not in front of Hughes.
I do wonder whether he is trying to prove a point sometimes because he may well be under pressure to play the youngsters .
We can only really afford to play one of them at a time quite frankly .

Preferably not at all when our two defensive 'rocks' (Pierre and Turnbull) are missing.

To certain extent he has to rely on his own judgement but I suspect he might have been given an over optimistic appraisal on Hughes from youth team coaches. On the subject of Hughes considering this was an opportunity for him he seemed to lack endeavour even the will to do well. I remember Jacobs showing that spark, as did Chambers. Even McWilliams managed to endear himself to supporters early on.

I'm sure nerves played a massive part. As a 17 year old making your debut against one striker who's spent his entire career in the Championship/Prem and the other a 6'3 bruiser, with a combined 800+ league games between them, and playing next to a CB who's been extremely hit and miss this season and has a habit of moaning at others, it must have been nerve wracking with the young lad.

Would like to see him or Williams get some more game time now the season looks to be over for us.

Probably unfair on Hughes.
He has the potential according to the youth team coaches, Saturday was just too early for him.
It's never easy showing your best when you are starting on the back foot and being unable to transfer your weight forward because of the match situation. That is easier to achieve the further forward you play in a team.
Give him a couple of years and a bit of bulk and he may become a regular in our side.
In the meantime, KC needs to carefully pick and choose when and where he plays him to introduce him gradually, but that will apply to all of the new and current youth team recruits.
Just hoping that he hasn't been damaged after Saturdays game.
