Having read a lot of the dialog on here now for the past year, I have to now say that it has transcended into the realms of unfathomable, stark, bleak, repetitive negativity between us as fans I can comprehend.
I have no idea where, how or why the expectations of this club becoming anything more than it ever has in is history are still present, we are what we are and always have been.

The first 7 games of this season where were looking at another relegation battle. A manager has come in after 4 previous disastrous appointments, over achieved with the little ability he has in the squad and put us in a position of safety, with and minor glint of a shot at the play-offs. One loss, after a nice little unbeaten run and everyone goes into producing reactionary statements all over again. Am I the only one that thinks that games like yesterday are a fixture in league two football, even for those clubs at the top of the table? They have been in my 27 years as a fan and I don't expect it to change.

The reality at the start of this season was we were always going to lose Crooks and Van Veen and it happened, just like in the past we have lost players such Coke, Chambers, Bunn, Bayo, Jacobs, Smith Toney, Holmes etc. The reality of it is next year we will likely lose Pierre and Turnbull and it should come as no surprise to any of us when we do.
If anyone started this season believing that attending Northampton town games was going to lead to pleasing to the eye football and any sort of success we were lucky to experience under Wilder, then I'm sorry for your disappointment but my advice is, don't support a league two football club, even more so Northampton Town  if that's what you want.

In this day and age, I always feel lucky to meet anyone who supports their local team and has a passion for it, let alone a fellow Northampton town fan. However the distinct lack of community, unity and atmosphere between the fickle fans is a far stronger deterrent,  and a bigger embarrassment than the long ball football I’ve seen us play for the majority of the time I’ve supported the club.

Wouldn’t it be nice if before kick –off at every home game you could hear five thousand Cobblers fans sing ‘The city lights don’t bother me’ …that would make it worth the entry fee alone.

However I am very aware I may need to manage my expectations.
On to Port Vale and up the Teyn!

Quite a readable 1st post and yes the negavity is a constant theme and is generally practised by a few who basically join in after a loss! Don’t get disheartened either - go to a few away games as being in a NTFC  crowd in full swing is always worthwhile.

So, the sixties never happened? For sure, all of the promotions since have ended up being a blip, but surely the whole point of life is to strive for better. Part of the current issue is that fans are still rankled by how one of the best sides Sixfields has ever seen was allowed to simply fall apart. This was a team that, with just a bit of guidance, could have and should have pushed on.
And yes, Curle has steadied a rocky boat, but it rarely qualifies as entertainment. And we currently have owners who barely themselves seem interested, so just how much energy do you expect the casual fan to invest?

Agree Jolly, the tone is always set from the top and KT seems about as interested in NTFC as Billy Waters was yesterday.
