My sons and I were talking about how long I have been a cobblers fan. I think I was about 8 years old. the manager was DAVE SMITH. I THINK PICKERING WAS IN GOAL, THE CENTER FORWARD WAS DRAPER AND THE MANAGER WAS DAVE SMITH.

My first game was 19.04.96. Exeter at home. We won 4-1 with goals from Parish, 2 from Mark Cooper and John Gayle. Sadly for my bank balance, have been hooked ever since.

My Dad took me to the League Cup game against Stoke City on 30th September 1978, I was 10 years old. We may have gone to the League games before, in those days they did vouchers for big games. Geoff Scott played for Stoke that night and later played for us in the 84/85 season. We lost 3-1 George Reilly scored.

I hated football as a kid and as a consequence didn't really register who we were playing in the first couple of games I was dragged to. I remember being pretty scared and unable to see anything in the Hotel End once or twice and then standing on the cricket side on a subsequent visit when we beat Mansfield quite comfortably (which I only know because I remember someone next to us saying "who are these, Mansfield shoe factory?")
My first away game was at Chesterfield the day it all kicked off before, during and afterwards with running battles in the street, which put me off further. I only really started taking an interest after the move to Sixfields and all the general football euphoria that followed Euro 96. I got my first season ticket in 98 and have had one ever since!

So 1984, 1989 or 1994 then? Sc***horpe at home. December 8th 1979. 0-0. 2,120. First away: Crewe Alexandra. April 1983. Lost 1-0. 2,197. Had my Cobbs flatcap grabbed and a punch to the face...hooked ever since!

Whichever one it was where our manager had to make an announcement over the tannoy at half time saying if we didn't stop we'd be likely to lose points!

I haven't a clue which my first game was!
I do know Dad first took me to the reserve games in 1965 because so many fans attended the first team games. Even the reserves were watched by a few thousand!

Similarly, my first game was a Reserve game in 1964...

I went with my Dad to that game as well. We stood on the Hotel End and were lucky to get out alive. My first game would have been November or December 1969 but I have no idea who we played.

We stood on the Spion Kop Terrace in front of the old main stand. I had a position right at the front looking through the wire fence, I loved it. I must have stood and sat everywhere in the old County Ground - Cricket side, Hotel End, Hotel End Terrace, Spion Kop Terrace and the Spion Kop. I even sat in the old main stand and in that Meccano effort on one occasion.

A lifelong Cobblers fan from the mid Fifties......when it was safe to go the Cobblers as a lad ....even if that meant walking across the Racecourse en route.

My dad took me a couple of times in the early 80's on the Spion Kop but I wasn't really interested in football as a nipper. First game I actually remember was in October 1986, I was 12. It was a Tuesday night versus Burnley in the all-conquering title-winning season under Graham Carr. I think Morley scored twice, Hill and Benji in a 4-2 win. Stood on the terracing next to the Hotel End. Hooked ever since. Went the following Saturday and stood on the Hotel End for the first time against Hereford. Won 3-2. It was Carr's birthday and he was smoking a cigar in the dugout. First game without my Dad was the last home game of that season versus Crewe, stood in the family enclosure. First away game Chester, opening game of the next season. Won 5-0. Happy days.

Started going to hone games in 1983, can’t remember my first hone game though. Can remember my first away game, when I was let off the leash by my mum allowed to go on the coach to VS Rugby in the FA Cup by myself, November 1984
