We need to keep Turnbull & Williams.
Absolutely - we need to somehow get past the deadline holding on to our most important players and jettison some fringe players (Waters particularly). With Turnbull if he is in his last year it is surely worth offering him a new contract as he is quality.

Was told the shift in KC’s comments is pretty telling on the likelihood of business today

Trouble is both Turnbull and Williams are not KC signings, he’s had both of them benched for the first games of the season so I think its very possible one or both may go.

I’d like to think that KC wouldn’t weaken the squad before the deadline closes - if someone like Williams or Turnbull left then that would be very damaging. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we ended up signing Hallam hope but I hope (!) that is not at the expense of high profile outgoings.

I think the only player that should seem surplus to requirements is Billy Waters. They should hang on to Bunney unless they find a better like for like replacement. Another attacking midfielder to push Adams, Warburton and Hoskins would be nice but overall I think he'll stick with what he's got at least until the January window. With 13 players already signed he needs to give them time to produce the goods.

He has only been playing Waters to get him in the shop-window to enable his exit.
In other news, now Keith Hill the former Rochdale boss has taken over at Bolton Wanderers, I wonder if Joe Bunney, a former Rochdale player with league 1 experience could be on his radar.

If KC can arrange it, Waters and Bunney to leave, with Ricky Holmes and left back George Cox (on loan) to come in would be good.

Ricky Holmes has just tweeted he's not coming back & also for Cobblers fans to stop tagging him in tweets every 5 minutes! It was never going to happen & he's not the player he was when he was with us...no doubt we got the best years out of him...

I wonder if he’s in the same boat as Leon Clarke, who they can’t get shot of because he’s now on Premier League wages. I bet whoever put promotion wage increase clauses into the contracts of Sheffield United players never thought they’d end up in the Prem!
