I think the clue might be that despite us having Lewis Ward on loan from Reading, plus Coddington and Goff on the books, none of those three dislodged Cornell from between the sticks. This to me shows that Cornell is rated/preferred by Curle.
Ward went back early and both Coddington and Goff have been released....the only one left is...…!!

Curles squad strengthening priorities lie elsewhere.

Ward was a poor signing in the first place. Cornell being better than Coddington and Goff only shows that the latter two were nowhere near good enough and does not in any way mean that there aren't better keepers than Cornell who could be bought in as our number 1.

Out of the out of contract/loan players only one was offered a contract and only 3 out of the contracted players were made available for transfer, two of which had spent the season out on loan.

Do you think that Curle happened to rate all or most of the contracted players but not the ones out of contract? Or do you think its possible he doesn't rate very many of the contracted players at all but is more or less stuck with them? Have any contracted players been made available for transfer that haven't made it clear they would like to move elsewhere? The only possible would be Waters but even he has spent the season on loan and may well have said he is open to a transfer.

In short, the fact that players are still at the club means bugger all as to Curle's thoughts about these players.

I think that might have more to do with the defence in front of him. Im sure cornell will concede less with a solid and stable defence next season.
Look what happened when Pierre and Turnbull played for that stint mid season, we conceded less. When Taylor came back in we conceded more, you cant say that was cornells fault?

No, he went to Forest Green as their number 2 after their previous on loan keeper had been recalled by Brighton. He only got a run of games initially after coming on for their injured keeper and was even benched for their final 4 league games before coming back in for the play-off semi-final. They were also already sitting comfortably in 4th place before he made an appearance for them.

Goff was injured all last season. KC never saw him play.

And? I never said he did.

GPC stated that neither Goff or Coddington were good enough to dislodge Cornell, I was simply saying that just because a clubs reserve keepers are no better than its current number 1 that that number 1 is good enough.

Absolutely. They thought he was good enough.

See my post above. Ward was loaned by FGR after their previous keepers loan was cut short by Brighton and he only got game time after their keeper became injured:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6647731/Forest-Green-keeper-James-Montgomery-reveals-gruesome-facial-injury.html

A gander at FGR's forum shows that their fans don't rate the injured keeper who Ward replaced either:

http://forum.fgrfc.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=104992

Still didn't stop Ward being dropped for him in their final league games though.

We could definitely do with at least one wide man coming in. Go get him KC!

He's constantly the L2 assists king....big Harry Smith would have a field day on the end of those crosses!

Curle did not put Cornell up for transfer with other contracted players at the end of the season. This indicates he wants to keep him. He also did not bring in another gk in the January window and played him throughout the campaign.
If Curle didn’t rate him , he would be gone . Simple as that .

We've made him an offer and so have MK Dons. He's not keen on the travel so I would think someone nearer to his home will get him, if he receives a suitable offer.
