To me that sounds like a fact - at least I can agree!

Yes , like once every fifteen games unless his contract was up .
He pretended to close down but never quite got there and pretended to show attacking threat but never quite believed in it .
I would have Hoskins over Powell any day of the week .

It's true tho Cecil!

Hopefully Sammy will joint Dai on the subs bench this year and he will be used in the right capacity (ie coming on the last 10-15 mins and running at tired defences)

Hoskins wasn't a regular starter under Wilder though. Also he was a different player, as then he still had the ability to run with the ball and power past players. During that time, as well as under Page, he used to cause the opposition so many problems and was a terrific option off the bench. He has lost that part of his game now though, unfortunately. This is probably the effect of previous injuries combined with a possible drop off (even if only slight) in pace with age.

Austin/Curle have seemingly valued his energy and work-rate as well as his adaptability to different positions/roles - RWB, RW, RM, AM, IF, ST. Off the top of my head I can only think of Powell as a player from last years squad with that degree of adaptability. It's this ability to fit into different roles in different systems that has made him a valuable player, for Curle at least, I think.

A half fit Holmes is 10 times better than Hoskins, the only comparison between the two is the first two and last letters of their names  Grin

RH was used a few times as a sub by CW which to me suggests there was a fitness issue. He had fitness issues at SU and Oxford. We all would love to see him return but probable high wages and dodgy fitness  are not good companions. Anyway why do have such prejudicial views on Hoskins and Cornell? It’s really quite unlike you.

RH signed for the Gills and never played a game for them!
Cornell and Hoskins playing means we weak because neither of them are very good.
