I have to say , it wouldn’t disappoint me if both Bunney and Waters stayed .

The manager doesn’t rate them, don’t see them getting a look in

That may be true of Waters. But Curle has never managed Bunney, so could possibly change his view on him.

Maybe, if Bunney stays and plays he will be given more of a chance by the supporters now Buchs has left and if he can get over his homesickness.
If I had been the subject of abuse from supporters like he had, I think I would have been homesick also. It does get a bit much at times!

Why ? Cheltenham clearly get something out of Waters we have failed to find . That’s a failing of the management. Bunney was never played at wing back and we look like that’s how we are setting up . I think they will both leave but it’s not the end of the world if they don’t

Bunney is a better wing back than left back. I’d be quite happy if he stayed and was given a chance. We might have some good competition for that position going forward. Depends what Curlio sees over the next couple of weeks.

KC in his last interview says he needs “ one or possibly two centre backs”. Currently we have Turnbull and two youth players plus part timers that fill in . If we are playing three at the back , surely we need three more centre halves. If he is genuinely only going to sign one or maybe two more we are looking very vulnerable defensively .

Just to be devils advocate if he did so well at Cheltenham then how come they don’t exactly seem to be falling over themselves to sign him - same with Rochdale and Bunney? The main thing it comes down to is contract and wages - I’m pretty sure Bunney must be on a ridiculous (for his ability and quality) contract, not so sure about Waters as I think he came in pre “Chinese money”.

He hadn't seen Goff either and he let him go.

Nor me but I doubt that will be the case.

We may also be asking a fee if we paid money for them both and need to recover. There may be agents involved and the buying clubs don’t deal with them as well. All sorts of reasons other than wages which may be a big factor as you point out. Bunney certainly has the pace we lack on the left hand side .

Think the treatment towards bunney was pretty poor to be honest. Having spoke to him on a couple of occasions I felt for him. Signed by JFH promising him to play left wing back only to start as a left back. By his own admission he is not a left back. At Rochdale he scored 9 in 11 games as a striker and then got injured. On his return from injury just to get minutes under him he played a reserve game at left wing back. Created 2 goals and then made that position his own. That was only 1 season before joining us so obviously was still learning the position. Think it says a lot that he has been playing regular league football last season. I for 1 would be pleased if he stays and proved many of our supporters wrong. However don’t think he will and good luck to him

Still injured isn't he? Sean Whaler recently tweeted a picture of himself in rehab and Goff was there also. Seems like he got injured at a bad time.

Feel sorry for Goff. He had ability. SW is coming along well. He was there yesterday.

I agree about the treatment of Bunney, it's no wonder he felt 'homesick'. I always like to point out that during his spell in the side our goals against record actually improved and then got worse again after he was dropped for Buchs following JFH's sacking. He's got pace and a quality left foot and I think would be a top player at this level. I'd like to see him stay, but he'll probably be loaned out again I imagine.

Shame he was crap defensively which a must have quality for defenders.

Bunney is an enigma.
If I was the manager tomorrow, Id tell him straight...'you are going nowhere, we will review the situation in January. You've got one year left on your contract, we need a left sided player who can cross the ball. You will compete for either a wing back position or left side of midfield'.
Under the right guidance, I reckon he could be brilliant for us next season if used correctly. And negates the necessity to bring in a left sided reinforcement.
If we were to get an offer in the meantime, to recoup the fee paid, then fair enough, sell, If he doesn't really want to be here. But I see zero point in sending him out on loan, given that in a years time he would become a free agent in any case. We'd be better off playing him, with a view to reviewing the situation in January. Unless he's a bad influence, which I very much doubt is the case.

It’s not just Bunney; it’s several other players as well like Hoskins,Cornell and vV; others too! KvV is an interesting one; harangued by many at the end of relegation season. Then as the last season progressed there was a dramatic change in opinion. However the abusive comments are from the usual few suspects! Would vV have stayed if the abuse was less vociferous and above all repetitive? Please
