Nope both are done. Waiting for the go ahead to announce one then the other will be.

Some may say why do we need to wait, with Pierre we made Shrewsbury wait until half 10 before announcing!

Want to announce the ‘better’ signing first

Goode (better) & Oliver, recently of Morecambe (the other)? If Oliver signs does that mean a striker is leaving, do you know?

I hope we’re not getting bent over for Goode (something silly like spending the majority/all the Pierre money on him) - much as I like him it’s not like he’s Virgil Van dijk and if you read their forums the majority of their fans aren’t bothered if he goes - I knew the year left on his contract might complicate matters. It’s the other signing I’m more bothered about - it doesn’t say much about the faith in him (and it’s not exactly a morale boost) that we’re putting off announcing him due to possible negativity from supporters.

It’s purely when we are able to announce, fee is agreed and signed off

Cheers mate, a bit bizarre in that case - I assume it’s an undisclosed fee? I’m hoping there’s a late snag in the other one and it falls apart but there’s not much chance of that happening as he should be grateful to sign for any league club!

Come on Irchy, you're normally more positive than that mate. He will probably be back-up target man for Smith. My only concern is do we lose a striker because of this signing. I did ask ntfclad if any strikers are leaving but he didn't respond or maybe he doesn't know.

Didn’t see as there were a lot of comments and didn’t read them all on the previous page, but I can confirm I don’t know diddly

You’re right mate, I’m probably overreacting (but his record is pretty ordinary to say the least) - like you say hopefully he’ll be (very) back up but it seems a bit extravagant to have Smith, Williams, morias and Oliver when there’s a decent chance we’ll only be playing one up front. I think ntfclad has also said we’re still interested in Mikel Miller (but he did say he can play on the left attacking) so something in me says that one of the current forwards will leave. I still think we need to go all out for another quality, experienced centre back as it will be needed in this league.

Maybe Goode, Oliver, Miller (if he can play off the left) and another centre back? If Bunney was to leave by some miracle then we would need another left sided defender/wing back. As we keep banging on about there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of pace throughout the squad. Also I don’t know what KC’s views on loans is like.

He's one of the players who was on the photo yesterday. Clearly, he's on trial, 34 years old though.

Robbie Simpson is a damn sight better than Vadaine Oliver but surely if we’re going for Oliver it suggests Simpson wasn’t particularly impressive on trial?

Surprised we would have to pay fee for Goode, get the feeling if he didn’t have a year left on his contract scunny would have released him, would hope any fee was very minimal.

Is he? 5 goals in last 58 games, aged 34, would be gutted with either, both so much worse than what we currently have.

Very true hence my concern. Simpson’s record isn’t great but he’s been at decent clubs throughout his career and played a part in mk dons promotion last season. Oliver is a non scoring journeyman who scored 5 in 54 for morecambe and got released.

I'd laugh if all this talk of signing Oliver turns out to be incorrect and we end up signing someone else (wishful thinking probably). There again he could turn out to be a world beater for us.

Agree with this but happy with what we’ve got TBH.
