With luck Anderson can replace Adams, then the younger players can stay and get rid of a has been.
Not sure if this is a tongue in cheek comment - thought that Adams did ok at Scun'thorpe until he clearly tired towards the end in his midfield role. What I remember of Anderson he was an ok player and bit of a 'footballer'. Will he deprive a youngster of a place; don't think Roberts has earned the right just yet to be a bona fide member of the 1st team squad. Promising - yes in a slightly underwhelming way. To me Pollock is a young player with definite promise and deserves at the very least to be in the 1st team squad.

Or it's a place on the bench that allows a youngster to go out on loan and play regular 90 minute adult football before coming back to a squad better equipped to contribute to the first team.
If only that was what happened! How many youngsters have we sent out on loan and then see them return and still get nowhere near the first team picture? Either that or we send them out on loan after loan and then release them anyway. Even playing them in the EFL Trophy game.....put in a decent performance.....actually win the game....then no sign of them for the following league game where we revert to type and collapse against a team with one win behind them. There seems to be a lot of resource, money, time and effort going into the youth set up, and its producing results on the pitch at their level. My concern is what happens then...….if these players are not given the chance to shine for our first team?

How many games have you seen Roberts play for your assesment? Having seen him play 4 games I think he offers something we do not have in the first team ie; pace with a left foot for team balance.Plus potential to improve! I agree Pollock should be in the Saturday team squad, as a minimum.

Or they return and are still not at the level. Which of the current youth would/should play instead of a current first team player? If none and they are only available to sit on the bench, why not loan them until they are. The only one that I have seen who is anywhere near to the first team squad on ability and stature is Pollock.

You would hope that all these changes within the youth set up are laying the foundations for a proper long term identity for NTFC
Sammo has constantly said during co-commentary that the club needs an identity...
Under KC we still haven't got one so I guess everything being put into place for when KC's contract expires or more likely, he gets the boot!

. Have seen young Roberts every time he has played for the 1st team so about 6 times. Simply for me not good enough yet. My benchmark in assessing young players is against Jacobs; who at 16 showed clear promise. There are late developers tho'!

You have to give a platform for the young lads . They will make mistakes but they are the future of the club . There is very little development going on and a no joined up thinking between the first team and the youth set up

I thought Anderson did ok the last time he was here. Went about his work in a quiet but efficient and effective way, scored a couple of decent goals for us I seem to remember.

Still remember his second goal; tremendous volley against (h) Gillingham? Maybe an astute signing.

Jay Williams looked quality last season when introduced. Surprised he hasn't had much game time this season. Hopefully we'll see more of Pollock now.

Jay Williams appears to have the ability from last seasons performances but currently lacks the stature to hold his own consistently. He was all over the place against Swansea this season. Remember, he is only 19, he will fill out, he has stacks of potential, he shouldn't be rushed. Young Scott Pollock however, is one for now.

Maybe we could do with a return of the reserve league so our young starlets can ply their upcoming trade against senior pro's either coming back from injury/suspension or lack of 1st team game time.

Much as I would like to see us strengthen the squad in January I think it’s just as important to try to tie down some of the key out of contract players. Perhaps someone might be able to remind me of the full list but off the top of my head I’m sure it includes Turnbull (massively important to sign him up again regardless of what league we’re in) obviously Cornell and Hoskins who has had a new lease of life recently.

After a shakey start to the season, Cornell has been excellent recently and part of the reason we've conceded so few goals. Better to try and keep him until the Summer and risk losing him on a free transfer, but hope we get promoted and he signs a new deal. Having seen Arnold vs Notts County he doesn't fill me with much confidence, but maybe not fair to judge on just once performance.

If Cornell leaves in January , he is likely to be signed as a number 2 and sit on the bench . He could sign a new deal here and be the regular number 1 for some time to come . I don’t think we would get that much for him and so would much rather keep him and continue his development . The same goes for Hoskins .
