Same here Irchy. I'm sure he'll be on later saying Cornell should have saved the first

Just got in from Oldham on the Trust Bus.
Encouraging performance, must admit I feared the worse when their first goal went in . What an improvement on last year.
Hope this bodes well for next season......now the brief wait for the retained list and a couple of new signings earmarked in the next week or so.

Interestingly we played four at the back today - and apart from a shaky start, I think it worked a treat. Will this be our back four at the start of the season ?

Fine result. Good way to end a terrible season. I have knocked the guy as much as most fans, but Hoskins deserves some credit. His goal yesterday was a stunner. Remarkably he has scored our best two goals of the season

Interesting game in that the manner of the win was unexpected. For the first 15 minutes we looked decidedly shakey then came their opener and from where I sat thought that Cornell might have done better. The replay indicated that was not the case; well struck and placed shot by the Owls player. Cornell's save from their free kick was superb but once again none of our players were in a position to follow and clear it up! GPC was quite right to highlight our inability to pick opposition players up or even close them down and it was this hesitant display which led to their goal(s). Fortunately for us Hoskins goal put us on the front foot and Oldham simply faded away. There were times during the game were we so completely in control that I expected an avalanche of goals. Nobody in the side disappointed and was impressed by SW, JW and SP all young players. The one caveat is they must play for the full 90+ mins and not rely on a wonder strike by Hoskins to put them on the front foot. Based on this display we don't need too many new players! Essential for a promotion push next season is a wide player, and a couple of players capable of scoring goals. Regarding the Goal Keeper debate there is not much wrong with Cornell provided he is given better cover so the money can or should be assigned else where. I have my doubts on Morais popular as he is but he looks seriously overweight? Powell would let go - Goode also based on other players as good as or even better maybe available. The key to that solution is of course his home club. Both Morais and Andy Williams scored fine goals(deserved a hat trick); but having seen a lot of Andy Williams this season there has been quite a few 'awol' moments. I think K Curle has done well to halt the downward slide and clearly has a nucleus of players he can rely on. Certainly there was reasonable optimism amongst the travelling 400 odd support after that display. How Oldham finished above us really highlights our inconsistency through out the season.

Actually Everbrite if you was watching " the Owls" you must have been at Sheffield Wednesdays game as Oldham are "the Latics"

It's easy to get carried away when you score 5 away from home, BUT.....
The game was a dead rubber. Could it be the case that after taking the lead the Oldham players started to get into 'holiday mode' and mentally couldn't recover?
In other words we ended up looking better than we actually are. Would be a mistake to judge anything on one game. This was one bright spot in an otherwise drab season.

What a nice day out, good football as well ! A lovely stop at Holmfirth, the Old Bridge was a cracking pub, but a bit pricey for "Up North"

Great away day. 😊 I was up in Blackpool for a Northern soul Weekender and one dj played a set particularly to my liking so after he had finished I thought I would complement him. Got chatting, said I was going to the Oldham Cobblers fixture and suddenly he waves his fist in my face and.......he has NTFC tattooed on his fingers.😁✊
