So CW has now won promotion from Levels 5-2 in the English game: Vanarama (Oxford Utd), League 2 (Cobblers), League 1 (Sheff Utd) and the Championship (Sheff Utd).

Has any other manager accomplished this in the modern game … or indeed ever?

Plus he's never been sacked, quite a record he has. Alan knill takes a lot of credit also.

The much maligned Graham Taylor ? Loads of promotions but never managed in the Non-league.

Neil Warnock

Good one … it looks like he had 8 promotions from leagues in Levels 5 to 2 (from the Conference to old Division 2/Championship), 4 of which were via the play-offs.

Still makes Chrissie Wilder part of a small and exclusive club.

It seems to have put years on the chap though, he looks a lot older than he did when he was younger.

If you've not seen it, check out Chrissy Wilders interview last night via YouTube, the guy is so passionate and demands %110 from his players, also even took the time say his backroom staff do just as much as he does,

A very humble guy, so pleased to see him get a chance in the Premier League and will keep an eye out for them next year.

If the Sheffield Utd board won't back him with sufficient funding the next move could make him a very wealthy man. Fulham ?

'He's One of Our Own' ( The story of Chris Wilder's Blades revolution) is a great read with obviously a lot of Northampton photos of that day - now gone down in Blades' folklore, and references!

Just finishing it at such a perfect time!

Given that he's just spent two seasons with his boyhood team in the Championship, working with one of the lowest budgets, you think he's going to just jump ship because the owners don't match budgets???
That's where Wilder thrives and succeeds !

Danny Cowley could end up joining this exclusive club if he carries on his upward conjecture. I'm guessing Gary ruddy Johnson has achieved steps 5,4, and 3 promotions - and missed out on promotion to the Prem in a play-off final defeat. Maybe our old friend Barry Fry has done 5,4 & 3 also?

In his interviews he often mentions that they don't have a big budget but its more about team spirit and chemistry,

I think he'll be very astute, cant see him taking anyone on huge wages on a free transfer or spending big millions on a single player, he will want to try and add a bit of extra quality but only if it compliments the spirit in the team

He's very humble and passionate, there aren't really many managers like that who spring to mind, apart from Neil Harris.

Dyche has done incredibly well on a relatively modest budget. Sheff Utd may start well next season but at the end of the day you need quality to stay up. Time will tell.

Good point, forgot about Dyche,
I wonder if certain characteristics make a good manager, like Dyche and Wilder both have strong personalities who wouldn't be held to ransom by players or agents but also get on with their players rather than treat them like slaves - both have been successful over several seasons rather than just a one season wonder.
