Cobblers have announced that eight players at the club have been released by Keith Curle- club captain David Buchanan, Sam Foley, Dean Bowditch, Jack Bridge, Shay Facey, James Goff, Luke Coddington and Joe Iaciofano.

Daniel Powell and John-Joe O'Toole have been offered deals to continue at Northampton next season.

Ash Taylor, Joe Bunney and Billy Waters have all been transfer listed.

Reading between the lines it looks like jjot has only been offered new terms as it was part of his old contract, I would imagine he’s been offered a big reduction.

Yup think JJOT will be off based on his recent interview and also KC comments.

I am surprised about Foley being released but not devastated. The only one we might live to regret letting go is Bridge.

KC has got it spot on in my opinion. The only decision I’m not sure about is Powell. These players have had more than long enough to prove their worth and have failed miserably. Looking forward to seeing a fresh side come August.

The cull that was needed...good work KC!

Powells original contract was when we were a L1 club so the offer will be considerably less that what he's currently on so who's to say he'll sign it anyway.

I personally think JJOT should also leave and think he will based on KC obviously not rating him & the recent JJOT interview where he basically said he needs to play regularly & that it maybe time for a change.

As for the 3 transfer listed...all as expected...just hope someone comes in for them

Billy - 24 - scoring again for Cheltenham = surely worth a punt for someone.
Bunney - maybe.
Taylor - problematic. On big money and it doesn't look like anyone else is that interested and he doesn't seem that willing to move.

Powell will probably accept the new contract, cant see a mass of clubs wanting to sign him from us, just said to my mates he must be Curles love child.

IMO the right decision has been made with all of these,

I would like to see us give another chance to JJ Hooper as a squad / bench player to see how he does, as a free tranny it's a no lose situation.

For me it would be a better option than bringing in 36 yerrr old Jabo Ibehre... because IMO... only the beast Akinfenwa could do a job at 36.

I agree.

Whether any other names mentioned on here are worthy of wearing the shirt, my trust is with Mr.Curle.

Only just seen the retained list (busy week!). Some brave and necessary decisions, most of which I agree with, although I'd have liked to see Sam Foley and Jack Bridge stay. I think KC thinks Bridge is a bit lightweight, but he's definitely got talent and this may be one that comes back to bite us. If JJOT is on his way I would have thought that Foley would be the experienced midfielder to build around.

Shame there won't be a send-off for JJOT and Buchs, but thanks for the memories!
