I hope McWilliams, Williams and Pollock get a look in.

I think Pollock will start .
MacWilliams will need to find some form again to get into this side but there will be injuries to that midfield because of age

Pierre wont be here

I really hope he will, although there's bound to be interest in him. Possibly the best centre back in League 2. Our defence is now my main concern as nearly all our signings have been of midfield or attacking players

*edit as of 8/6

Based on wing back formation:

David Cornell

Nicky Adams (RWB)
Aaron Pierre
Jay Williams
Jay Turnbull
Joe Martin (LWB)

Chris Lines
Sean McWilliams
Alan McCormack

Matty Warburton (Number10)
Harry Smith (CF)

Subs:

1. Morias
2. Hoskins
3. Andy Williams
4. Ryan Watson
5. Scott Pollock
6. Cam McWilliams
7. Steve Arnold (gk)

Others - Ryan Hughes, Jack Newell, Sean Whaler, Jack Newell, Lashley (gk)

Transfer listed - Billy Waters,  Joe Bunney

Arnold/Cornell - who knows who will be number 1, but its Cornell's shirt so Ill leave him in the starting line up on here for now   Smiley

The potential match day squad at full fitness is looking strong, but still need some decent cover.

I reckon, as a minimum...based on no one leaving:

2 x defenders. 1 Centre back plus 1 centre back who can cover across the whole defence (example, Charlie Goode)
1 x winger. We've only got Nicky Adams who is a fully recognised winger, whose 'good to go'. We need another one!

Warburton might not cut it, so if the budget is good Id like another attacking midfielder but going into the season, I wouldn't think its necessary. We'd still have the best part of a month before the window shuts, more than enough time to gauge how good this new group is and also if any of the youngsters emerge into first team regulars.

Of course, its highly likely that Pierre will leave, and I wouldn't be surprised if Andy Williams is moved on. If so, obviously like for like replacements to fill either/both positions!

Lets resurrect this one after today's business. Where are we?

i think we still need a centre back and a left winger/wing back if Bunney is due to leave or KC doesn't fancy him in those positions.

This is how I see our squad shaping up, divided into 4 groups of players.

1)  Key players(6). Players expected to always start if fit
Turnbull, Goode, McCormack, Lines, Martin, Adams

2)  Probables (7). Players likely to be the main contenders for first team place
Cornell, Smith, Watson, S.McWilliams, J.Williams, A.Williams, Warburton

3)  Possibles (7).  Players more likely to be in the squad but may make first eleven as injuries or form dictates.
Arnold, Morais, Hoskins, Pollock, Oliver, Hall-Johnson, Bunney

4) Backup (7).  Players who may make the squad but equally likely to go out on loan
Lashley, C.McWilliams, Hughes, Newell, Roberts, Whaler, Waters.

I make that 20 players to pick first 18 from, plus 7 youngsters as backup. Probably one CB light plus like for like replacement for Bunney if he departs.

I agree with this , except Pollock could well be a “probable”.
This leaves room for a new left sided central defender to come in and possibly pace on the left as left wing back / midfield option.
My line up to date would be

                     Cornell

        Goode.   Williams.  Turnbull

Adams.                                       Martin
             McCormack.  Lines

                  Warnurton

           Smith.         Williams

Im with the general consensus I think; a left sided player who is good enough to start games and a 'captain material centre back' are top of my wish list.

If Bunney doesn't leave, then he can fill the left sided player gap.

I have a gut feeling that Andy Williams will leave, if he doesn't Im struggling to see how he is going to be involved much unless Smith gets injured.

All on the assumption that KC is going to set us up with wing backs.

I agree with the 'captain material centre back' and left sided playing starter.

A rough guide to the squad with 'two-players-for-each-position' in mind:

GK: Arnold/Cornell

DF: Adams/Hall-Johnson; Martin/Bunney; Turnbull/Goode/New CB/Williams

MF: Lines/McCormack/Watson/New LM-LW/McWilliams/Warburton/Hoskins/Pollock

FW: Smith/Williams/Morias/Oliver

So 2 more in (at least), plus 1 more for each departure from those above.

I think Waters will leave, even if only on loan, and he won't need to be replaced.

Without a doubt . There is no cover for either Turnbull or Martin on the left side , if you don’t include Bunney .
We need two left sided defenders and maybe a left attacker .
Anyone got a left foot out there ?

I can see a 4-2-3-1 formation.

                    GK-Arnold
LB-Martin, CB-Wharton, CB-Goode, RB-Hall-Johnson
             CM-Lines, CM-McCormack
AML-Hoskins, AMC-Warburton, AMR-Adams
                    CF- Smith

Subs: Cornell, Turnbull, S.McWilliams, Pollock, Watson, Oliver.

My friend 😅  Twit Ter says we are soon going to sign a player from Burton Albion, Nigel Clough organises defences very well so if it is a defender we will have a decent player on our hands.

Let's be honest...no one has a fvcking clue...KC will no doubt surprise us all with a bizzare team selection...

Really want KC to be a success but the constant tinkering does my nut in...

Probably swapping Morias for the prolific speed merchant Sordell!  Shocked
