I have no idea why people are slating him. They are picking up faults that Prem keepers are also prone to as if he should be perfect. We are lucky to have him.

Some fans get a bee in their bonnet on certain players and can’t let go. In all the games seen this season his long range stopping has been ok. To me a porous defence has been the main culprit! His save against Yeovil is rarely mentioned by his critics; bit of an embarrassment to his critics who just ignore it! If the rumours are true about him moving for a fee .......🤒

Agree with Beds that Thomas is to blame, not because of the off field antics, but solely for appointment of Austin, should never have been any where near the team once Jimmy left, should have gone at the same time. An awful appointment which killed the season before it had even started.

bit of a strange appointment to Assistant Manager too...….did Jimmy want him?

Hasselbaink came in at the time of the 5USports involvement, so it was probably thought a "big name" would raise the profile, and with it probably came big wages from the money that never materialised anyway. Austins appointment a short time later though seemed to be "club driven" rather than the manager selecting his assistant himself.

Maybe that then led to the club standing by "their man" once Hasselbaink had been removed.

I agree with other posters though...surely he was part of the problem and should have been dismissed at the same time. Keeping him on, and promoting him seemed like the cheap option at the time.

from the money that never materialised anyway.

Has KT ever confirmed this ?

I have no idea but it would be quite unusual for some funds not to change hands at the initial stages of this sort of situation.

Well, control of the board of the club's holding company, NT Ventures Ltd, was gained by the Chinese appointing 2 directors, Bower resigning from Ventures' board leaving only KT from the English side. The same 2 Chinese directors were also appointed to the board of NTFC but were a minority to DB, KT and Mike Wailing.  It was also announced at that time (23 June 2017) that 5USport had acquired 60% control of Ventures (i.e. shareholding majority).  No mention of the amount of money involved was made by the club on the date of the announcement or subsequently but Ian Herbert (a serious football journalist who wrote a highly regarded biography about Liverpool's Bob Paisley) reported in the Mail-on-Sunday on 29 July 2017 that "......the new owners have paid around £6 million for the controlling stake....."

I have no means of knowing the accuracy of the Mail's article.  It seems clear that the Chinese defaulted on their obligations but how much was paid or not as may be the case before that stage was reached is unknown to all but those directly involved. They are saying nothing and the accounts of the relevant companies disclose no transactions that may be attributable to 5USport.

Also thanks to Vintage from me!

When I said that the money ‘never materialised’ I can only go by the fact that there is no trail in any of the accounts that are accessible to the public. Ie NTFC, Ventures, Fantastical and one or two others.

So although it was reported that the club changed hands, and indeed directorships were given to the Chinese, perhaps they never did come through with the financial side of the deal.

Hasselbaink being appointed, the transfer splurge in both the summer and in January can be accounted for in the £2m plus loan ultimately made to the club by Belle de Jour.....now showing as a debt in the football club balance sheet.

Let’s be careful where this thread goes. This info is very useful if used in the context of this season, then parked. But if it steers the thread in same direction of the redev thread I will delete those posts. I’m pretty sure this info already exists on the redev thread anyway.

Or start a thread specifically about it.
