Thanks for that mate - not very likely then! I don’t get ifollow but I haven’t seen anything in terms of post match interviews, was KC asked about injuries and incomings or is the chron just going to drip feed it to us through the week?

I see you are sharpening your hatchett already. Sheffield Wed played like they had been playing together for over a month. We made the mistake of treating it like a training game which of course suited them. The service to Smith and Oliver was very poor and we ended up hoofing it upto them which of course did not work either. I thought the midfield was poor, no bite and no workaholic like their number 10. Things got a little worse when most of the youngsters came on 2nd halfwho were out thought and certainly out tackled. Only Lines played with any sort of conviction in our midfield; he is not a ball winner. We lacked that ability to win the ball on any consistent basis.. Thought the goalkeeper should have done better with Forresteiri(?) goal and also with the penalty. His clearances were just a boot upfield to nobody in particular. Watson was anonymous, Bunny never really showed as an attacking left back. We definitely lacked a Pierre type replacement. The two young players at right back and centreback played ok handling their opposite numbers pretty well. The main problem was that we were so easily outplayed in midfield; we lacked any sort of pace on the right. I can remember the encouraging performance aginst Leicester in season 2015/16 a few years ago who then went onto win the league whilst we won the L2 title. I would say that Curle learned a lot about his teams performance tonight and unless he brings in better (and fit) players in PDQ we may struggle.., again. Not a very encouraging evening.
I am not “ sharpening “ anything - just telling it as it is , which you have then repeated in more detail . The same could therefore be accused of you . Btw , Bunney didn’t play left back , he played left of a centre 3.

For the life of me, I do not see the point of friendlies against far superior teams. Particularly when you put out an odd combination of fringe players many in the wrong position. Surely we should be getting a shape to the team and getting first team players match fit. Am I missing the point?

Thought that Bunny played LWB second half.

Gives our defence a proper test (did they do anything against Sileby?) and good fitness having to chase the opposition for most of the game! I think we've done ok against Championship teams in the past (beaten Derby, Wolves, Birmingham in recent years), can't remember getting spanked like this before though.

Not sure of your logic - players like to test themselves against ‘supposedly’ superior opponents. What it did last night was to expose our limitations particularly in passing to our own players and an ineffective midfield. True we had players OoP but that did not hide our inability to make more of an impression in the game. Where KC made an error was to allow SW to play ‘as in a training match’.

Don't worry anybody cos El Curlio saw plenty of positives last night. We can rest easy once more.

With the talent in that squad? if Steve Bruce had taken over earlier they would have breezed into the top 10, they lost 3 games from 18,
They should be in the play offs come the end of the year at the minimum.
They are a mid-table Championship side and no better. If Bruce had have stayed then they might have made an interesting outside bet for a top 6 finish, but it would still have been unlikely to happen. Cardiff, Leeds, Fulham, Bristol and Brentford, to name just 5, will all finish comfortably above them next season.

If we are going to play teams at this level we surely have to play people in the right positions and not experiment. He already knows what MacWilliams can do , so why test him at RWB ? I think KC screwed up there last night . I can’t see Yelbi taken on either

Well that was awful. I couldn't name you one player that had a decent game.
MacWilliams is not the answer at RWB, he was probably the worst of a bad bunch (just pipping Bunney, Jay Williams and Watson!).
Personal highlight was seeing Hoskins laughing in the stands each time one of the kids got skinned.

Such biased drivel, you have clearly got an agenda, were you even there?

In his absolute defence , I thought Bunney was the best if the centre backs and although I certainly do not advocate him playing there , credit to him because he is miles out of position and did ok .

It was nice to be back watching football again, but as has been mentioned there were some really odd decisions in terms of positioning.
Nicky Adams played 72 minutes at RB last year, 3978 at RWB. He played 4113 minutes total in the league, not once did he feature at LWB, so it just seemed like an odd selection.
Likewise Bunney's best attributes quite clearly are going forward, he has good delivery on him. He did his best yesterday but again it seems like an odd fit.
McWilliams struggled positionally i thought, but then again playing against Forestieri and Harris would be a test for anyone.
We saw a lot of unusual tinkering last year, Hoskins at RWB, Waters there, Turnbull in midfield, Powell up front. It would just be nice to have players playing were they are best suited.
Outside of the negatives, I think Lines is going to be really good for us, clearly has a good range of passing and a calmness on the ball. Thought Jay Williams did ok also, hope he sees more game time this year.
We shouldnt expect to be getting a great result against a team of that cailbre, but I just hope we dont see unnecessary tinkering throughout the season. Also I think this side is crying out for some pace. I have not been Hoskins biggest fan in the past but i can see the merits of him just to provide an outlet. Other than the additional two CB's we need, I would like to see us get a pacy winger just to allow us to stretch teams.

was it really £14 to go last night? Im sure it hasn't been that much before for a friendly, not that i've been to one.

I would never normally do a friendly , especially at £14 but I thought I would take a look at some of the new players last night since you would think most of them are fighting for a place and looking to impress. I wish I hadn’t . Only Lines really came out with any credit and Warburton showed in flashes. It’s the last friendly I will go to .

Very eloquently put; fair minded and correct criticism of KC. The only thing I would add is that they should have done better irrespective even if a couple or more were out of position. They are paid Professionals with skills.
