Walsall fan in peace here. I'm doing a series of articles for our upthesaddlers website about the away experience this season at all our opponents' places, and you are first up!
This selection of articles is none too serious (I'll provide a link when it's up) but what I need from you lot is your recommended venue for away fans to meet up and have a pint. Other categories are all related to Walsall and the type of fans we have, so I can cover that off using tripadvisor and some other dodgy sources, but the home fans recommendation is your specialist subject. Let me know which pub, and why.
Look forward to hearing from you.

You'll have read that NTFC is a sh*t away day in a retail park with chain restaurants. But coming by train, there are plenty of excellent boozers. I'd love it as an away trip.
Assuming you'll be touching down early, the Cordwainer is the Spoons. Then you've got the Optimist round the corner and Old Bank, the Malt Shovel and The Pomfret Arms both nearby which I'd highly recommend.
If you're wanting to walk to the ground, there's the Thomas Beckett, Foundryman Arms, Jimmys Bar (newish sports bar) and Sevens en-route.
If you're driving, walk ten minutes to Duston and go to The Melbourne Arms or the Squirrels.

All good choices - another I’d recommend is the Lamplighter, Overstone Road - on the edge of the town centre and you would need a taxi to the ground but normally an excellent choice of real ales and good food.

It's funny, we always comment that Sixfields must be a decent away day given the choice of food available in the immediate vicinity! Granted, none of it is exactly gourmet fayre and some I'd rather wait until I got home than eat in but for an away day lunch it's ideal. To offer an alternate take on the pubs mentioned, The Old Bank is a s***hole, the Malt Shovel is fine if you want real ale but is otherwise not worth the visit and if you're going as far as the Pomfret Arms I don't know why you wouldn't walk a further couple of minutes and go to the Old White Hart which is a far nicer pub! Also in the town centre are the Mail Coach, the Wedgewood and the Wig and Pen, all of which I'd visit ahead of any of the others mentioned!

Id imagine there will be restrictions in place after it kicked off at the Bescot/railway station/bridge last time we met, best avoid the town centre

What on real ale or cheap, crappy boozers? I'm not a fan of either!

All good stuff - thanks!
I'm not so sure restrictions would be relevant to two teams that got relegated but who knows...

Don't know about Saturday but today's news that our evil owner has sold his shares will have the fans jumping, so expect a party atmosphere! I'm confident we'll challenge over the season, but probably have a slow start. 0-0 or 0-1 probably. Head says 0-0, etc...

An ex Cobbler and an ex Saddler from Dudley, Chris Marsh has said he would build Jeff Bonser a statue outside the Bescott... don't let that thought spoil the party. Christ just laughed my head off at the opening paragraph... gimp suits and whips of the underground sex trade.

Marshy lost a few friends saying that. Bonser paints himself as a saviour, when all he did was use the turmoil of the post-Ramsden years to separate the club from its ground and get rich off the back of owning the freehold. It's a long story, and probably very boring for outsiders, but we're in the final chapters now...

I don't know why our friend from Walsall was asking for advice for as his review of the Old Bank shows he's clearly been there before! (or he's read some reviews on TripAdvisor)

Yes, someone has to make them for the high demand from good people of Walsall and surrounding areas.

0-1 smash and grab it was. Thanks for the points, and wish you all the best for the rest of the season. The Saddlers lads and lasses enjoyed their day out and I hope we added to the atmosphere at your place. Tip: zonal marking sent us down last season.

Cordwainer had lads from both sides...two or three more well researched Walsall fans had made it to both the Pomfret Arms and the St Giles' Alehouse!
