So what changed? Why the difference in effort and commitment for this game? Was it a change of tactic employed by the Manager, or did the 11 on the pitch just decide to a man they were "going to try harder" this week? Do you think it took 5 games for the players to realise, or did it take 5 games for the manager to demand? You're right, that level of intensity and style of play has to be demanded every game, and I think under Wilder it was, he made it clear what was expected and we went out and performed like that game after game.
I do hope that this one game was not a flash in the pan, time will tell on that.
Could be a bit of both really. I said on here after the Colchester game that I didn't think KC was being hard enough on them in terms of intensity out of possession. Maybe that's what changed. The players also got a lot of stick after Colchester so maybe some felt they had a point to prove. Whatever the reason, it needs to be a constant feature of our game. I'm not a fan of clichés but I do think 'earning the right' to play is so important in this division. It also helps when the likes of Hoskins and Adams find a good end product as they did on Saturday because for all the effort you still need quality to hurt the opposition.

Chris Wilder has always said that first you have to match (or beat) the opposition for work rate. Only then will superior quality shine through. I saw a recent interview with him where he said he doesn't give his players credit just for putting in a shift, because that's the bare minimum he expects.
KC appears to say the same kind of thing, but it's not about words, it's about creating that culture within the squad. What is key is that he realises that players' work rate is ultimately his responsibility and acts accordingly, as he is the one deciding the standards and the work ethic required.
A great performance last Saturday, but I'm yet to be convinced KC can get the players to produce that kind of performance consistently. We have no chance of promotion unless he can.

What changed was the opposition. The way Plymouth attempted to play from the back allowed a high pressing game to be effective. It is not a question of effort or commitment. The same tactics would not have worked against Macclesfield.

Disagree. We put far less pressure on the ball against Macclesfield which meant they could comfortably knock it around. We also attacked with far more urgency than we did against Macclesfield. It was not just a case of the opposition, if you play with that intensity week in week out you'll get results regardless of the opposition.

Saturday was an excellent all round performance and a deserved win. I thought Turnbull, Goode, Watson, Williams, Hoskins and Adams were all genuine contenders for MOTM, while everyone else gave strong performances. I thought Oliver again did well in his cameo towards the end and caused their defence further problems.
I think this result will look even better retrospectively as I suspect Plymouth will be promoted this season. In a way we played them at a decent time as they are trying to implement a new style of playing for them under Lowe's stewardship and expect them to get stronger as the season goes on and things click into place for them.
The question now, is can the team produce these kind of performances consistently? If they can then perhaps a play-off push isn't out of the question this season after all. A long way to go, but perhaps our season has now had the kick-start it needed.
