Didn't go to the game, but thought I'd comment on our form so far.
After our first 3 matches of the season, we had a tough run of 5 games: Swindon, Colchester, Plymouth, Bradford and Newport. A draw against Newport would give us 7 points from these 5 matches, IMO an encouraging return considering all (bar maybe Colchester) will likely finish in the top 7 this season.
The losses in the first two home matches however have been the most damaging so far. Even a win against a poor Macclesfield side would have seen us on 10 points which would have been a solid start to the season.
Our next 8-9 matches after Newport are IMO much more favourable and it will be our return from these fixtures that will indicate whether we will do well this season or not.
Agreed. I really do think that the next 7-8 will determine whether Curle makes it to the end of the season or not.

Well it must have been fairly quiet murmurs because usually our fans aren't afraid to be extremely vocal on Curle. I agree with you on the tactics point, you always need an out ball. But the players have got to take some blame. They kept giving the ball away time and time again. The more experienced players in the squad needed to manage the game better. You have experienced players for that exact reason. Last week when we beat Plymouth everyone was raving about how good Turnbull, Hoskins, Adams, Goode etc played but this week its all KC's fault. It works both ways. When we win its because of how good our players were or the opposition giving us more space but when we lose its KC's fault. Not saying you personally, but many on here. [/quote
Why should the players take any blame, Curle NEVER takes any blame yet sites certain players as he did on Saturday, man management = zero

They should take blame because they are paid to do a job. Asking why a footballer should take blame is utterly ridiculous. Players should take blame, manager’s should take blame. They are all paid to do a job. Of course the buck stops with the manager but not everything is the manager’s fault. This isn’t a video game where he has control over every players step. Example: we had a two v one in the first half and Hoskins couldn’t even keep himself on-side. You would shout at a 16 year old for doing that never mind an experienced professional. I’m not saying KC shouldn’t take blame but so should the players. It can’t be KC’s doing when we lose but the players’ doing when we win. It works both ways.

I would say the likes of Crawley , Stevenage , Grimsby and Orient, all of whom we are playing over the next few weeks are teams on a par with us . If we don’t put up decent performances and reap points against those sides Curle needs to think about his future.

ok Harry Smith took the blame earlier in the season , Curle has never taken the blame , s*** man management, and that's from within the club , hes awful. Stick up for your players occasionally, berate your players occasionally, but freeze them out because they question you ?, he should take it on the chin, Wilder used to, that's why curle is not fit to lace his boots

Not sure you’re reading my posts correctly. I’m saying as fans we can’t just always blame the manager when we lose but then when we win it’s all down to the players. Our result on Saturday was the fault of KC AND the players.

The three missed chances exemplified by Melly is sufficient proof that the loss is 50/50 down to players and management alike.

Get the point about players having to accept responsibility (Ash Taylor anyone?) but absolutely, Curle's total non-acceptance plus his rather bizarre substitions (though thought Oliver was good when coming on - that header!) has to be a factor. Total capitulation in the second half. Still, my GF's failure to get a fire certificate for our flag - resulting in it not being allowed into the stadium, deserves close scrutiny!

I'm not the manager but I thought Oliver did ok too....... Not only did Curle publicly say that he didn't do a good job of holding up the ball, now he's publicly said he defended poorly for one of the goals. Definitely the Managers scapegoat!

It’s everyone’s fault but Curles...... the soon he’s gone the better, I maintain we will never get promoted with this guy at the helm. 17 years with no promotions is some achievement!

From my position, this was a good away performance.
We have immense defenders, who can thwart all.
Our midfield didn't quite step up, and our forwards failed to do their job.
So, midfield need to be prepared to move forward quickly as soon as we are about to win possession, not sit around waiting for tippy-tappy. 3 managers have lost their jobs due to this failure.
Forwards need to do their dirty work whilst the ref is looking at the ball, then fall over like they've been shot as soon as the ref looks at them. Think, guys, think! 3 managers have lost their jobs due to the failures of our forwards to do their jobs.
So, either the chairman is sh1te, every manager we have had is sh1te, else we have endemic issues at the club......
The only common factor is the membership of this comment board.

Agree with some of this and the use of olde English ‘thwart’ . As a matter of interest which of the midfield failed to do their job?
