This forum is just a reflection of the garbage that’s increasingly all over social media etc.

To be honest I just skim read most threads now. Most of them just descend into a morass of repetitive bleating about Thomas, redevelopment & catchment areas from certain people and relentless squabbling and attempts to police the board from another regular poster.

It does get a bit boring and with little to get excited about on the pitch most weeks there's even less reason to come on here to engage with anyone. You can kind of see why a lot of people don't bother at all anymore.

Agree botn, used to post regular but can't be arsed to get involved with personal agendas and those who think they can run the club from their keyboard.

I would say that repetitive negative messages about players and management is the biggest problem! Not always easy to police!

I have never really understood what advantage having additional logins would give someone. Having 30+ people all thinking I am wrong about someone/something wouldn't change my mind, so to login and the agree with yourself when disagreeing with me, just makes me think your a prat as well...  Evil Tongue

I do think that a lot of people park there sense of humour elsewhere when they come onto these things. I can honestly say that nearly everyone that I have met from the forums seem ok. You get a few that in all earnest believe that their opinion is worthy of higher note than others, but on the whole they are the ones who are much better fun to wind up.

People have forgotten the whole point of football and watching sport. They talk about being starved of success as if it is a genuine problem. If anybody thinks that winning everything in huge stadiums solves the stress, just listen to all of the prem boys ringing in on the radio, and look at their forums. If you change your thoughts, you change your world. I have watched a team I love win everything. I have watched most of it live, in the huge stadiums. Yet Cobblers is my team. I enjoy every second of a decent performance by the Town, as much any prem bod does his team. Miserable fcukers are miserable fcukers full stop. It's just unfortunate these days, that they can use a keyboard to try to drag others down to their black hole.

Not a Cobblers fan but there is nothing wrong with old forum software. At the end of the day modern software does pretty much the same as old software but it does look better on portable devices.

For a small fee of around £10 I could supply a CSS code for the site owner to improve the colours to match your team and make the site more portable device friendly.

Colour scheme and display on portable devices are two of my biggest gripes with the forum. The third is that i often want to quote multiple posts in my replies and have to resort to copy and pasting to achieve this. unless anyone knows of a better way?

What ever happened to this once great messageboard, there were some great discussions in the past on here, yearly trips away and awards for the players, always someone on line with banter aplenty, has it been killed by facebook and twitter, has it been killed by pests who post on here , or is it just the general apathy that currently surrounds our club ?

Well, as someone who was at the first ever meet up - Bury, whatever happened to them, my lack of involvement largely stems from getting a life.  After loosing interest in top flight football a long time back, I then lost interest in the national team and after seeing the dross served up for the last game of the season at Bury a few years back, I turned my back on the professional game completely, having been a loyal supporter since the Graham Carr days.  I limited my involvement to junior football with my own kids and helping run the club.  I did say though that if the World Cup in Russia went okay - and I didn't think it would in any aspect, I would give it another go, so off to Morecambe I went last season.  Can't say I thought it was much better, but I have then been to a couple of games and keep track of what is going on.  I must say, my mood is generally better from doing other things at weekends and not depending upon a group of overpaid sportsman to keep me happy is a good plan that I can recommend to others.

In terms of the messageboard, I have always liked our little community and enjoyed putting faces to the names.  Usually the reality is better than the online persona, for example, Marvo is a nice bloke in the flesh and even Fenners is worth a chat to.  I don't take it too seriously, but have been very aware at times that the written word can be misinterpreted plus you don't know what else might be going on in people's lives when you are thinking that you are harmlessly taking the ****.

I don't bother reading some people's comments and am able to just skim over them, so that helps to not get wound up.  Some threads I don't even start with.  I don't think I have looked at the Redevelopment thread since the number of pages went to double figures.  Most of all, I miss the banter with Baldy, the good Doctor and the rest of the afternoon matchday thread, but actually, I would rather be outside watching Boy Bingers play his matches for The Mighty Bingley Town (last season) or just doing something nice for myself.

It didn't ALL go wrong, but there are some bits that could make life on this messageboard be more bearable.  And that is not to do with computer code.

There, more than I have written for a year or two, time to find the rest of my life and enjoy it.

I just can't help it mate. I still get that match day buzz.. Whether it’s at Sixfields (All the time) or at the Bridge (seldom) I genuinely get the butterflies...

Like you I did the youth football. Had some genuine success.. But I love football at every level. I think I always will.
