First and foremost we have a good chance of winning this tie .
Secondly , St George’s Park is well worth a visit - it’s a public hotel .
Thirdly , be careful of any references to the travelling community in relation to JJOT - it is now recorded as racist abuse ! Ask Alan McCormack who reported it to the ref versus Grimsby.

I’d like to see the business plan for a non public hotel 😂

Best case scenario would be a draw, then get plum 4th round tie versus one of the big 6, giving the replay some added spice.

why do we always get a s***e draw?
Huh? In the past 20 years in differing cups we've drawn West Ham, Tottenham, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester United twice. On average, we get what, on paper, is a big tie.
This, however, is probably the least inspiring draw since Rochdale away 30 years ago

Might even be called off at that time of the year - added spice for the original game in that case.

If it's reduced prices we should start a drive to get more Cobblers than home fans at the match !

The general consensus then is that it’s a very underwhelming draw. A small club, small ground with poor support. So not a money spinner, unless we win of course and that’s the only thing it’s got going for it is that we have a chance of winning there or getting a draw and winning the replay. Then we’d hope for a big club in round 4.
At least it won’t take our minds off the League between now and January.

A chance of winning is to me a realistic opportunity. Getting to the 4th round surely is the main objective?
Hope is always better than whinging!

Nb You are not complaining tho'!  Cool

I agree with you Evers. I think we've got a realistic chance of getting through. I think we've earned 90k? for getting through the first 2 rounds, Also lets face it was quite exciting (at long last) to see us in the hat for the 3rd round.

As opposed to a hotel designated for those using St. George’s .

Why all the gloom? Yea it's not a big team, but surely getting as far as we can in any competition should be the aim? There's no reason why we can't pull off an 'upset', as they're 14th in League One and we are the most in form team atm.
I'm probably in the minority but I dont see the appeal of going to a big team and probably getting thumped!
No gloom from me!  Grin
As already mentioned, though we are hardly favourites, there is (with current form) a fair chance of making the 4th round, as well as an ok, not so far, decent day out. Cannot see ticket allocation being a real issue...at least 1300 I'd guess.

The West Ham and Tottenham matches were in the 90s and were more than 20 years ago, there's a whole generation of fans who won't even remember those games. Leeds were in the same division as us when we played them in the FA Cup.

keeps those teams going for the season! Obviously teams at different levels come in at different stages so you don't often see teams get through more than two or three rounds before falling to a bigger club, Even the losers in all the qualifying rounds get money, but if a non-league club falls in round 1 proper (ala Chippenham) then they don't get anything extra.

The money has increased well over the years.....imagine someone doing "a Chesterfield" now....getting to the semi-final as they did in 1997.....you'd earn almost £2.5 million before you even start talking about gate receipts, TV revenue and the like.
