So, January is notoriously a difficult transfer window as all players are under contract, so paying transfer fees is inevitable...
Glad KC is not prepared to pay over the odds so.....do we wait until Summer to use our FA Cup money windfall on perm signings?
We could realistically get in 2/3 quality loan players til the end of the season, rather than paying over the odds for perm signings, who may be out of contract in the Summer anyway
I'm with you on this. Say we do get promoted, we would then need to build a squad capable of competing at that level which would probably mean that some of the expensive purchases from January need to be cleared out costing us dearly.

Spot on, a couple of quality loans, like the number 19 for the Shrimps today.

He's only on a contract to Morecambe until the end of this season. Might be able to get a deal done for a relatively small fee? He also played alongside Oliver last season, so might dovetail nicely? Having just looked at his stats; one goal in eight starts, from ten shots. Pretty, but not much end product?

I’m not sure the 19 fits with Curles “front foot” style of play.

Being cynical I'm wondering if the owners aren't too fussed about promotion. If it happens great. If not, there's always next season and no real evidence that the hordes are revolting. We must be one of the most profitable clubs in the country at present. A poor League 1 season will soon hit the bottom line.

Personally I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with that though. League 2 is very poor this year and arguably we’ve been fairly lucky with a lot of results. My thoughts are if we did manage to get promoted with the ability of the current team we could really struggle next year destroying momentum and morale, getting relegated and in a far worse position to now. This window isn’t great for value and options and I’d rather see the money from the cup used in the summer whether we are promoted or not when it has a much better chance of being used more wisely.

I think it a bit premature to get excited about the Morecambe lad on the evidence of one game. A bit more scouting and background checks please. Remember opposition fans haved raved about Sammy on the evidence of one game.

Considering his recent form, they are right.

I was told yesterday that McWilliams is out for the season BUT a couple of decent signings are lined up! (No names but I am prepared to wait IF decent players).

We've already played Salford twice this season and there is no danger of them catching us. If Will Grigg is on fire against others around us in the league it's all good.

Good point. The spending at Salford still seems questionable though.

How many games will we play during the window? Wouldn't it be better if these players were signed sooner rather than later, or are we hunting in the bargain bin.

There's still the possibility that we might have to play them twice more.

Good point but they are 12/1 to make the playoffs. We should be parading the Champions Cup around the pitch by then
