Reported that we had cash bids in for 2 players but obviously neither progressed to a signing. I am not too bothered about that as I am happy with the business done and any cash for transfers is better spent in the summer. My only concern is we have no target man other than Oliver until Smith is fit again.

Right about the short term loans though.
No long term planning

No cup money spent.
Ambitious clubs like Swindon sign Yates on loan, get Doyle back for a fee and sign Hallam hope for a fee.

Despite all the spin/turd polishing, the club has gained around 700k of extra unbudgeted revenue and are championing three loan signings.....

Short term fixes when the club had a chance to spend to improve the club going forward.

The club is going nowhere despite the spin.
The money is not being channeled into the squad and still fans can’t see why the club goes around in circles....
A proper club would have invested in a young striker with sell on value.
Tried to sign Wharton who they could have sold on but no....
£0 invested in the clubs future at a time when they had an unexpected windfall.

I hate to say it but that is the difference between the cobblers and the fen dwellers
One club speculates and reaps the rewards with millions of pounds of players sales,a redeveloped ground and a club that’s going forward and the cobblers get in loans.....
If the lad from arsenal does do well at the cobblers it’ll be the likes of peterborough who buy him to sell on along with the likes of Wharton and Goode.

This has been a poor transfer window and of zero benefit to the club going forward.

Hey ho
Fair play to you diehards and enjoy the rest of the season
A big rebuilding job in the summer with many gaps to fill.

So you'd splash the cash?

Last time we had some serious money to spend we ended up with a load of big time charlies who thought they were bigger than the club. It Didn't gel on the pitch and certainly didn't off it.
Spend spend spend doesn't always work.

The best business we did this window was to hold onto all the squad who seem to be becoming a team that want to play for each other, better than signing 'stars' that are only concerned with themselves, hopefully those that want to play in a higher division will be able to do so with us next season!

Callum Morton did well today, although a bit lightweight I think their defenders and keeper were well hacked off with him chasing them down all the time like an excitable puppy. He poked his goal well though.
One thing, if I had legs like his I'd keep my socks rolled fully up...  Grin

It worked out really well last time when we splashed the cash on players and gave them 3 year contracts, don't know why we haven't done it again.

Had to do a double take as I thought he was wearing "school socks" and no shinpads!

Despite having seen him in only three games (Macc, Walsall and Grimsby), I think that we potentially have a top player of the future here:
In my opinion, if we don't achieve promotion he'll probably be loaned out to a League One club next season.  (He was loaned to Braintree in the National League last season)
Even if we are promoted, WBA will probably want to loan him out to a team who have more potential to finish higher in League One, unless KC is able to convince them that he will be properly 'looked after' with us.
Although a cheeky little bid might encourage them to sell him to us if they already have a few players of similar potential?  Grin
