Well..... what do you say after that?? Always good to have a moan after a win.
Quite simply I’m getting fed up, no..... utterly p****d off by our tactics. We have players in our squad who, were they allowed to, could play football. Is it that they are simply instructed not to?
We have (Crawley aside) a fairly sound defence. Let the other play football ffs.
Is this controversial......?? Why not sack a manager when the team is doing “ok”?? Let’s just say by some miracle he gets us promoted. Is he “really” the guy to take us forward with these neandathol tactics? Answer? No. So get someone in who can. And someone who will get bums back on seats.
Finally...... Hoskins. I’m sorry. But that was quite simply shocking. How he managed to stay on the pitch for 90 mins I do not Know.

Only 4361 home fans in attendance, on a bank holiday with a 3pm kickoff....and you can't blame the weather this time!!
The football is boring, predictable but sometimes effective.....a win is a win...thats how many people will see it!
That said, the quality on display means that I don't go to home games any more.....and despite being in the playoff zone and not far from the auto spots there's barely any excitement!
Would it be fair to say that potentially the boring football is keeping 500 fans away per game? Translate that to money and its £10,000 per home game.
What is the aim this season? We're safe from relegation, have an easily attainable mid-table berth, but as for going up...i'd fear for this squad and the tactical nous of the manager at a higher level.

Exactly GPC. So get someone in now that could do it. We may go up with Curle, but without doubt would come straight back down again !!

I'm one of your 500 reluctant to go to games. KT will stick with Curle until we are no longer in the frame for the playoffs. He will go for the low cost option rather than risk any backlash or another poor appointment and costs of termination all over again. The bottom line is the results are in line with expectations (or close enough for now).
The two home games in close succession probably test the pockets of quite a few marginal attenders.

I don’t know what you’re smoking if you seriously think there is any chance of KC being sacked - like it or not (and I’m starting to edge towards the latter) we are going to have him for the duration if not longer. It’s a strange feeling when you get a 93rd minute winner and still come away not massively enthused - we scraped a win against the bottom side and were so disjointed it’s untrue. I couldn’t make head nor tail of his post match interview when asked about the possibility of any incomings - the only thing I got was that the scans for smith and McWilliams weren’t great but then in the next breath he said that neither would be back before the end of January - if McWilliams particularly gets away with 5/6 weeks that would be a result.

By the way I’m not saying that I disagree with most of the sentiments of the original post, just that to expect KC to be replaced at the moment is completely unrealistic.

Are you saying that from a personal point of view or from a Kelvin Thomas point of view? There have been plenty of strange sackings over the years....its not just about league position. Like I said, with the stayaways who are put off by our "brand" of football we could easily be losing £10k a game. If you were a money orientated chairman that might count for something, same as fan opinion if you were a footballing chairman. Perhaps KT has so little interest in the football club that none of this really matters....the 4300-4600 keep coming every game and everyone is happy. If I was chairman i'd look at the bigger picture...and i'd believe that the fans deserved more entertainment for their £20/22/24 a game. I wonder how many half season tickets we sold?

Spot on mate. Its like watching Boothroyd ball again. Although he hasnt resorted to booting the ball out for a throw in from the kick off, yet.. Clearly we miss MCcormack to bring some stability, and on the grass passing, instead of just aimlessly hoofing it up front, towards any one who does not know how to lay it off. I feel sorry for the midfield, as they do not have the chance to show any creativity. Chris Lines is capable of better than this, given the chance to do so. It reminds me of when we had that Welsh lad from Man City, highly rated by them, (cant think of his name) who just stood there and watched the ball sail over his head. "Front foot" is a metaphore for "Hoof it" And it is not pleasant to watch. Due to family issues and work commitments, I cant get to many games. But from what I have seen, I am not happy. And it will not bring in the additional people. As an aside, has Everbrite been banned again? No comments/snipes for a few days now. Most unlike him.

In many ways, Curle is a competent lower league manager. He knows how to organise a defence and he's better than Austin, Hasselbaink and quite a few other incumbents we've had over the years. Despite the dire quality of the football from an aesthetic point of view, as the manager of a team in a play-off spot he's a long way from being in any danger.
To play devil's advocate, I think that he envisaged Warburton and Lines as providing the creativity this year, with Martin providing crosses as a left-wing back to match Adams' output on the right. The fact that none of these signings has so far worked out could be ascribed to inadequate scouting or it could be ascribed to bad luck. Goode, Wharton, McCormack, Adams and Oliver have all been strong signings who have improved the squad, so he's got more right than wrong - it's just a shame that the duds have been in the creative positions.
The big test is what comes next. Can he make it second time lucky and bring in the playmaker and left-wing back we desperately need? Can he evolve the team into a unit which can play both efficient L2 direct football and something less predictable, more varied and more entertaining? Can he deliver that elusive first career promotion?
His contract is up at the end of the season and that is the time to evaluate these things. In the meantime, he ain't going anywhere, we've had far worse and we may as well get behind him, remain constructively critical and see where he takes us.

I'm seeing things differently from the majority then. I've been watching the Cobblers for over 30 years and seen plenty of dross and boring games. These last couple of games ain't been that bad. On Sunday we could/should have scored 3 second half goals during that dominant spell we had and first half today we again could/should have been 2, 3 or even 4 up. So for me we have created chances (more than the opposition) and I have been entertained. It doesn't need to be slick, silky football. It's League Two after all. We have won 6 and drawn one of our last seven home games. I like that. The defence is looking generally solid too. We need a finisher that's for sure and a proper wide player, but lots of clubs are probably crying out for the same.
