When you put this performance and cup run together with the league position i reckon it puts to bed any debate about us not progressing? When we play like that there’s not a team in division 2 that can live with us. Bit of jiggery pokery in the transfer window that pays off and we can really push on.

Since Sc***horpe away we have taken 24 points from 12 league matches, so 2 points per game on average.

If we can follow up today's result with 2 wins in the next 3 matches, things will start to get really interesting.

I don't know why people keep talking about cup run financial gains benefiting us in any way at all. Bowers and his mate are owed 5 million smackers so anything that comes in is highly unlikely to be ring-fenced for players. It will be swallowed by the black hole.

That 'black hole' saved the club from extinction.

The alarm went off at 05:30 yesterday morning, I joined Horsham Mark on the 06:39 from Horsham to London Bridge. All going well: breakfast at Euston and on-time departure for Birmingham New Street but we then found ourselves sitting on the train at Rugby for nearly an hour due to an incident near Birmingham Airport. We jumped off and re-routed ourselves via Tamworth and made Burton by 12:20. Time for a couple of pints in town before heading up to the Pirelli.

Time for a couple of post-match pints in Burton before heading south. Got home just after 22:30.

Anyone else notice how small their defence were? Played into our hands as we won everything in the air. It seemed to me that JJOT was wasted in defence, didnt even go up for corners. Not complaining. Great day out.

It’s days like yesterday that make it all worth it. Fantastic performance from the lads and credit to KC who I thought got his tactics and substitutions spot on. Everyone was outstanding but I have to single out Charlie Goode who I thought put in a performance to remember in years to come. Absolute man mountain.

Hopefully we’ll take lots of confidence from yesterday as we go into a crucial period of the season. The lads have shown on a few occasions now that they can mix it with good sides. Before yesterday we hadn’t played very well for a few games but I’m hoping yesterday can now be a catalyst for a serious promotion push.

Onto Salford where we should have another great away following!

I said that if we could keep it tight at the back and restrict Boyce and Akins we would have chances at the other end because they had a suspect defence but I was not expecting them to be that poor.
Everybody put in a shift. Cornell dealt with everything admirably and the defence kept the number of saves he had to make to a minimum.
The back 3 were as reliable as ever and I notice on the Burton forum they are singing Goode's praises for the way he nullified Boyce's threat. The closing down tireless work in front of the defence often meant Burton were unable to find a way through.
Hoskins must be mentioned for his superb cross for the 2nd goal and his calm placement when scoring the 4th, also for the amount of back tracking.
Oliver gave their defence a torrid time winning almost everything in the air.
How tinpot was playing the celebration music for scoring at the end when you have entered added time 3 goals down, although it was funny seeing our supporters jumping up and down to it.
Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable day now lets hope the players get a good 4th round draw which thet deserve.

I've always liked Burton, despite our usually poor results there, they are a very well run club. Not so happy that the bar under the away end was 60p a pint dearer than the other bars in the ground  Sad

The Beech was charging £3.80-£4.00 a pint too which I thought was a bit steep. Sure they made a killing though.....especially from the one Cobblers fan who seemed to be buying Jagerbombs for everyone!

The Beech before hand was fantastic. Great atmosphere in there and the staff were superb. Started the day off brilliantly.

Brilliant game we all really enjoyed it. Well done to all the team and the fantastic support on the day. It was good to hear JJOT getting a good reception before the game and when he came on as sub.

KC said that plan A was for an aerial assault and plan B was for more of the same. Imagine the flak he would have got on here, from the usual suspects if we had lost. They have regularly told us that if we got promoted we would come straight back down with this style of play but we have been to a mid table division 1 side and put 4 past them on their own patch. It may not be pretty but it is proving very effective.

Wait till the end of the season till you knock another one off with your excitement, we are currently 9th in league two, hardly pulling up trees, we need some more quality up front and midfield, hopefully with the windfall of £500k from the FA cup and still counting KT might give KC a few bob to spend, MAYBE!

and left wingback so Adams can play further forward!

Time to concentrate on the League.

This will be a hiding to nothing, with no glory days.  The winner will be away to Oxford Utd.

Best to just bow out of the Cup, gracefully, now.  Most of the teams around us have already played in the league today.  From the results, it is clear where their priorities have been.

With major injuries to McWilliams & Smith, and concern over McCormack (scan related to contract extension?), we suddenly do not have the strength in depth for a congested fixture list.

Burton = A back-foot game, with Hoskins as the lone striker.

I am proud to eat my hat!
