Oops 😁 But all things considered on league form. If the momentum is continued, it has to be a sell out.

What did people think of the ground today? One of the strangest venues I’ve been to since the Withdean!
Tidy little ground, but all very ‘temporary’ and miles away from anywhere.
I don’t see the Salford business model standing the test of time. They had fewer than 1900 home fans there today....and this is whilst they are only charging a tenner. They are a smaller outfit than Macclesfield I’d say. Next year a lot of the revenue will dry up, away teams wont be taking a thousand every game once the novelty has worn off.
Yes they have a rich group of backers....but they still have financial fair play to contend with so it’s not like they can throw loads of money at the team.
My thoughts exactly, with them charging £10 and a gate of less than 3,000 brings in an income of £30,000 which, basically, needs to keep them ticking over for two weeks. With the staff and players they have, I very much doubt that it would cover one week, surely the financial fair play rules will pull them up ?

I thought it was a typical non league ground. I suppose it is good enough for their level of support and looked decent enough, but the facilities were poor. You would have thought a bigger toilet block in the away end would of been high on their priorities , especially with all the high numbers attending. I sat in the seats and had a larger gentleman next to me, which meant i was only purched half on my seat, did other people find it a little cramped?
It's the sort of ground , that if you get a result, like yesterday, it's a good day out. Get beaten, with the lack of facilities, problem parking etc, it's the sort of place the majority of fans will give a miss too , unless something was riding on the result. Yesterday was cheap and a new ground for everyone, the novelty will wear off with fans and time will catch up with them. Money alone cannot sustain you , you need fans, ask Rushden.

Home support of 1850 is abysmal, they only brought 150 to the PTS. Clubs like this do not deserve a league club and are only there because they have some money behind them.
Next week we play Morecambe who had less than 1600 at their game today and last season brought less than 100 to the PTS.
Other new clubs with pathetic followings are FGR and Fleetwood.
Notts County continue to attract home gates of over 5000 and other former league clubs in the National league also achieve much better support ie Stockport, Halifax,Wrexham and Chesterfield and I would prefer to see them return.

That's the spirit Wriggles.  After going ahead yesterday, I observed that we can't be too far off having enough points to be avoiding relegation.

do acrrington not deserve a league side because of their poor followings as well then? If attendances is your criteria for promotion then we may as well pack it in now because we'd never be allowed into the championship and these days they'd probably have to have a meeting about whether we'd be allowed to join league one

I personally think Salford (the club, prior to the class of 92) have been, to an extent, victims of their owners bought success. To come through that many divisions in such a short space of time has shown their facilities up for what the club is.

I congratulate them on what they've achieved in getting this far, but would be fearful of their future should their owners decide enough's enough. Again, the R&D model springs to mind.

Nothing pathetic for Salford having those attendances and being here, providing their finances are cut accordingly and not doped, and it's more difficult to do that now than it perhaps was for Crawley and Fleetwood due to Financial fair play. Accrington and the like are well-managed and well run which is how they survive with these crowds, which means more power for them for doing it. If we weren't able to compete with crowds of 5,000 then it's our own fault, not theirs.

Accrington deserve their success, a great example of a small club managing to do relatively well with small crowds and without a rich backer. I think the point that west stand oap was making is that there are an increasing number of clubs with small support but loads of money. Rushden and Gretna both came crashing down, Stevenage and Crawley are struggling,  Forest Green, Fleetwood and Salford thrive, at least until the money dries up. It seems rather than financing an established club it is more fashionable for those with financial clout to take a small club up through the lower leagues. I too would rather the likes of Notts County and Wrexham were in the Football League but cannot see that much can be done about it.

Salford don't just have the Class of 92 backing them, but also the billionaire Peter Lim. The sooner he gets bored, the better and them can return to regional football where they belong.

Hi Cobblers fans and thank you for adding to the match day experience yesterday. Fantastic support and numbers.

Not to many years ago Salford would attract 30 to 70 fans to our home games. There was a concrete small seating area and the rest was grass and a small perimeter fence.
The staff at the time were unpaid and local and the outer fencing was falling down and dangerous. Salford Amateurs was formed decades ago. I wont bore you with the details.

Lots of Man United and City fans live locally and can't afford to go to watch the premier league circus and so when Nevilles and co came in and started their project it was a welcome and safe place to go. They put the original staff on the payroll and employed local people and local suppliers.
They have started a girls team and an academy to provide somewhere for the local players that don't quite make the grade to carry on developing. They also set up charitable schemes for the homeless.

The owners were not expecting this level of success and the fan base, however small, is solid at around 1500 and 150 away supporters. A lot of Salford fans are happy for it to stay that way, as long a the team puts in the right effort.

I for one travelled watching Man United for years and was an old 60 pence a game Stretford Ender.
I find that it's a privileged to go to Moore Lane for £10 and watch good honest footy. I really enjoy seeing teams like Northampton and other teams from the lower leagues with such loyal support. The facilities will improve and I can only sympathise with you when it comes to having a pee, pie and pint and having
a poor experience.

I can honestly say that a lot of the fans and especially the staff, can't quite believe what is happening at our local non league club.

Regarding funding etc. Whatever happens. The Stadium is paid for, the facilities keep us dry(ish) and the football is honest and real. Our billionaire backer does amazing things with his money in his native Singapore and see's the vision that The Nevilles have of helping out Salford.

In June 2010 the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF) set up the SOF-Peter Lim Scholarship with a S$10 million donation from Lim. The gift is the single largest donation in Singapore from an individual towards sports development. The recipients are typically students who come from financially-challenged backgrounds and have demonstrated a potential to excel in their respective sports.[9] In 2019, Lim further pledged to continue supporting young local athletes for another 10 years from 2021 – 2030 by donating another S$10 million to the SOF-Peter Lim Scholarship.Since the inception of the scholarship, 2642 student-athletes have received scholarships amounting to $7.2 million.

Once again, well played, great fans and I never thought I'd ever see Northampton Town play. I love this League !!

One of chants.... This is how it feels to be Salford, This is how it feels to be small, we're a tin pot team and we've got no history at all.

Agreed about the ‘established club’ thing, even more in this case because 12 miles up the road were Bury...a club who the Nevilles were heavily involved with.
Still, wheres the news story in keeping an established club afloat when you can buy into a small club and take them into the football league....

They lived in Salford as Young players and trained at the Cliff which is in Salford. I know there is little goodwill towards Salford but I wanted to add a Salford 'Fan' perspective and good it is to play against Northampton Town etc.

Theres Prestwich Heys locally, Radcliffe borough, Bury, Rochdale, Stockport, Ashton etc Bury was not feasible because of the idiot owner.
Bury will rise again and the locals will support them.
Their shared connection is with Salford and it was a realistic project.

Good luck for the rest of the season. Signing off.

After what we have all witnessed at the weekend about Salford and the fair play regulations, they have signed Bruno Andrade from Lincoln today, for an undisclosed fee, so that's another one to pay from their £15,000 per week gate money  ::

And their messageboard is linking them with Kieran Agard from MK too.

My son commented on Saturday about their kit sponsors, and the boards around the stadium being more "high profile" than our sponsors...…. I guess that they are managing to bring a decent amount of revenue in from Sky and others which compensates for the lack of matchday revenue.

It was Radio Noddy on their commentary last Saturday who mentioned the name of Rose of Mansfield and Barnsley and Bury fame.He is a bit like Ricky Holmes in that he always impressed me whenever he played against the Cobblers. As other posters have suggested lets not get too hung up on rumours lets just wait in anticipation for actual signings coming through he door.
