That would be perfect. A day on the beers in Birmingham and football not ruining it. Come on Dennis.

Comes to something when we have people hoping the game is called off!! It is understandable though, I have had many a good day out drinking in some fantastic pubs ruined by that time between 3 and 5 pm.

Who’s style of football is worst ? Curle ? Boothroyd ? Atkins ? I actually think it could be Curle
I don;t know about Atkins, but I definitely prefer Boothroyd over Curle. I find the tactics exasperating, but we are competing! Never really understood the negativity towards Boothroyd. We did well under him, but I think the Cardozas' thought he could work miracles and didn't continue with the support required. I understand the frustartion after Wembley against Bradford - a real downer. Unfortunately, he and Bayo didn't get on, resulting in Bayo being on the bench because he was on Soccer AM the week before when the rest of the team were playing a training match.

I can remember the Atkins era as clear as a bell, but the Boothroyd era only stands out for a couple of games, one mentioned above! With Atkins I liked the fact that the effort was always there, we didn't really have any stars, more of a squad and team ethic of everyone pulling in the right direction for each other, and that came from the manager too. Sure the football wasn't great, but in my eyes it was 10 times better than we are seeing now. There were the odd 0-5 blips, as there always will be but in the main I look back fondly on the Ian Atkins era and enjoyed it a lot more.

Imagine the joy in the Bradford City changing room when they saw the Cobblers team sheet without Bayo in the first eleven.

I loved the Atkins era, not sure whether it was my age at the time or just enjoyed the effort was always there and the players all stuck together, I am starting to see bits of that at times now, but we are still a long way off. I never really liked Boothroyd, thought there was very little team spirit in his sides.

Atkins had so many strengths as a manager. I just wished he'd had the confidence to let the teams he built play with more freedom. His belief that we (the supporters) should only expect at best half a dozen decent games a season (to watch) was far too negative.

Funnily enough I did, I was peed off with Cardoza so had stopped going to home games and money was tight so didn't do the aways. Then when Cardoza went I daren't come back until the winning run was finished as I didn't want to jinx it!

Matched by our horror in the stands...

Very similar in having some very good centre backs, not a lot of creativity, but at least this time we're reliant on Oliver rather than Platt, who did the same job but was worse at it.

Totally agree with the above...as I do about drinking in brilliant pubs being curtailed between 3-5pm!

Actually I'd take Curle over Atkins (2nd) and Boothroyd (3rd). Route 1 in all three cases, but I think we attack more under Curle than under Atkins and Boothroyd's teams were always painful to watch. Re Atkins, I remember a home game (I think it was against Walsall) and miraculously we won 3-2, having defended for 80 out of the 90 minutes. To this day I still can't work out how we managed to win, but it was excruciating to watch. Have rarely felt that bad under Curle.

This game has been pencilled in all season but after the last 2 home games of hoofball and strange team selections, combined with the visit of Dennis I dont know if i can be bothered to spend £50 on more of this.I will decide in the morning but at the moment i think not.

under atkins we were always the underdogs - against some much bigger clubs and it was brilliant - 2 wembley trips, both terrible games but no one cares!

No doubt Dennis is playing a part in the proceedings, but the club have announced "less than 30 tickets from the original allocation remain"...…..so we've sold 770 or so.
Takeup on the day will depend on the weather I guess.
This time last week we on the railway were planning for Ciara, with emergency timetables being put in place.....nothing similar to report for this weekend yet, so it doesn't look to be as bad.
Having said that.....heavy rain forecast for Walsall from 0500-1400, and winds gusting to 52mph by 3pm.
