I think it’s highly fanciful to suggest we will make the top three. We’ve lost 12 games and still have to go to Plymouth Argyle, which is a nailed on 4-1 defeat 😂. The good thing about the Exeter/Crewe draw for me is that it strengthens Swindon and Plymouth’s place in the top three. Assuming we reach the playoffs... we don’t want to meet either.
I wouldn’t be fearful of any of the other sides in the playoff picture, should we make it. A home first leg is probably favourable for us, too.
The trouble with your (quote)' highly fanciful' prediction is that we have done the seemingly impossible before, certainly within living memory (KW in 2000) and that 31 unbeaten run 2015. It would not surprise me if Exeter have a wobble as might Plymouth who are missing a couple of key players for the next few weeks. So basically I am unable to write off our chances of a 3rd place until we see what happens in March. The other factor is Covid-19 and this could be a factor however unwelcome.

There is absolutely no chance we will make the top 3.

There is, but we probably won't... I wouldn't mind meeting Bradford in the play-off final and stuffing them by an early large margin, going someway towards laying to rest one of the worst days in my many decades of supporting The Cobblers...although Bradford might not even make the top 7.

A bad day at the office today sees us fall 10 points behind the top 3 with nine games left to play. Only a point insdie the playoff zone too now, those games against Bradford and Colchester look bigger by the week.
No midweek fixtures for the hopefuls this week, so Saturdays games are shown below.....i'm going to include the top 11 as still in with a chance of promotion or playoffs....
BRADFORD CITY (9th) v Leyton Orient (17th) Cambridge United (16th) v CHELTENHAM TOWN (5th) COLCHESTER UNITED (6th) v Scanthorpe United (19th) EXETER CITY (4th) v SALFORD CITY (10th) FOREST GREEN ROVERS (11th) v NORTHAMPTON TOWN (7th) Mansfield Town (21st) v CREWE ALEXANDRA (1st) Morecambe (22nd) v PLYMOUTH ARGYLE (3rd) Oldham Athletic (18th) v SWINDON TOWN (2nd) PORT VALE (8th) v Crawley Town (12th)

6 points from the last 21 available suggests we are not hitting form at the right time.

Why?

I predicted 17th at the start of the season, anywhere between mid table (12th) and 17th. Don’t get me wrong I hope we pinch 3rd spot or even a play off place but it’s just not going to happen, I do however feel the squad a Curles disposal is good enough for a promotion place.
and.... how was it for you?
