It’s only cheating if you get caught! I just hope the karma police don’t turn up at a playoff semi or final!

Do you think football would ever go down the rugby route and cite players? Or will it always be about what the referee has seen?

An example....if Scunny appeal the KVV red card and the decision is overturned, should they also look at the ‘simulation’ which may have helped influence the original decision?

Well they have certainly appealled and have been successful as it has been overturned.
Fortunately they dont look at simulation but I do wonder if refs will be on guard against any further behaviour.

So now that Van Veen has had his red card rescinded is Goode in the frame for simulation, it cant be long before a ref reads up on his past misdemeanours and punishes his "professionalism."

Yes, reputations precede you and all that. I’m sure refs do their homework and have an idea what to expect when the two teams come together, players to look out for etc.

Agreed. Nor if, at some point, it backfires for Charlie himself in the fashion you describe or because he gets a second booking for his antics.
Goode's shielding and going over in the way he does is very reminiscent of Zander Diamond.

At the time I thought it was a harsh (but still funny!  Grin) sending off, but I also think any simulation by Goode was minimal. He was pushed and stumbled and although he did touch his chin a little bit, he didn't writhe around in agony like you see a lot of players do. The ref probably should have booked them both, IMO.

We all know that Van Veen didn't do a lot but he did give the ref the opportunity to send him off. So the red has been rescinded, could the yellow that their No.15 got be changed to a red ? Then justice would be done in both cases .

How many times, did Marco G back into players with his big fat @rse, wait for the inevitable leg to come from behind, then turn and fall over it?
Simulation, but staying within the rules, is fine by me.
Just mind how you go Charlie. Youre nowhere near in Marcos league.

I personally don't like the idea of citing players, VAR is already making the game a bit too clinical. Football is more interesting and exciting with a bit of controversy involved. We are all outraged by the wrong doing of opponents but then laugh and cheer when our favourites do the same. It all adds to the tribalism which, for all of us, makes Football so much more enjoyable than Rugby. The 'dark arts' are nothing new, even to our very own heroes, did Trevor Morley used to go down a bit easily? Was Rambo Reid a little over physical at times? Surely John Buchanan never wound up opponents or officials, did he? We loved them all as we watched through claret tinted glasses, without that bit of devilment we would have forgotten them years ago.
It's just football!

Note to Breakspear, raising your hands and shoving an opponent is no longer a red card offence. Nor breathing or urinating in a public convenience either for that matter.

This might actually be to our advantage, Scunny have Chelts Swindon & FGR coming up in the next few weeks, added to a new manager bounce they might take some points from teams that could be chasing us and will need KVV to be in their team.

Anyone else notice that Charlie Goode did his 'dive' 3 or 4 times at Derby, the Ref blew for a foul every time, whereas Williams, Anderson and Lines all got battered and the Ref played on! No wonder players will try simulation, honesty gets you nowt.
