Big overreaction from both sides here!

We've picked up lots of points whilst not playing really well. For example the game away at Macclesfield was one of the worst games i've seen for years....but we won! I wasn't going to come on here and praise anything but the result because there wasn't a lot to praise.
That could go for a number of the victories we've earned...and I say earned, because its been through determination and a fair bit of luck we've had the run we've had.

How many games this season have we played really well? More than the amount of times we've played really badly? Probably not.

So we've lost one game at home to Port Vale, in the great scheme of things its not that big a deal so no reason to go overboard. The bigger issue for me is the style of play and the apparent lack of a plan B........when plan A is working all well and good. But when its not....? That's when we struggle. We got found out yesterday, we could bounce back and beat Swindon on Tuesday and this game will be forgotten.

But don't kid yourself that we are a good team, and despite all the wins, the unbeaten record and everything else, we've performed above average in a poor division. We need something else, we still need that spark, we still need a goalscorer, there are still areas of weakness. Results like this will come along.

In the words of our great leader....we go again!

Search back for a post headed “papering over the cracks” then come back and apologise !!
Read the word 'each' win, I did not say 'one' of the wins!
Why choose the one loss at home in 4 months?
Apologise!

Read through the comments...

I particularly agree with the one that suggests switching Hoskins and Marshall around. I reckon Marshall would cause havoc in the number 10 role, whilst Hoskins has been excellent at RWB. No brainer, surely for Tuesday?

In VERY gusty conditions, not sure how a plan B would have worked (2nd half). Through balls down the middle were going straight to the keeper. It wasn't a day were you could pass your way through, so high balls into the box was in my mind, our best chance of finding a way through. Playing the percentages, like we always do. Unfortunately for us, we didn't get the lucky bounce of the ball once, it simply wasn't our day. And when we did a shot in, their keeper was up to the task. Could have should have earned at least a point, and on balance 3 points. We were probably better yesterday than we were when we beat Morecambe 4-1...

Moving on. Back to basics. Hoskins and Adams as wing backs. Marshall can be our new Ricky Holmes, if he turns out to be 50% as good we will push for a top3 spot. Our forwards don't score enough goals but with the young WBA lad, we still might have a regular goal scorer on our hands. Time will tell.

Some good points Drilling. I thought that a major problem yesterday was Adams delivery from corners, they're normally decent but 2nd half especially taken from the East stand side, he was struggling to reach middle of the 6 yard and a few times not clearing their near post defenders. Marshall went to him every time for a short corner and he didn't use him once in the 2nd half. In fact I think he only used him once all game. Surely some variation would have pulled their defenders out of position a bit. I'm not moaning we're having a bloody good season and there will be setbacks along the way. Lets get behind the lads on Tuesday its a very big game with a big crowd expected.

Adams was terrible with Free Kicks and corners last week as well at Macclesfield...

Unfortunately, I don’t have time to comment on every word of your post. A good team is a winning team and we have done a lot of winning over the past two months. I think it’s very harsh to say we’re not a good team when we sit 6th with 15 wins and have already outplayed League One Burton, and been the better side against a Championship side. The style may not be to everyone’s liking but good teams win football matches and we have done exactly that for the majority of the past few months.

Claret tinted glasses being worn here? We didn't outplay Burton and we weren't the better side against Derby in the first game.

Give me a break. The Burton fans and media all thought we outplayed them. I suppose they’re all wearing claret tinted glasses too?  Roll Eyes

To say we outplayed Burton might be a bit hyperbolic, but we were the definitely the better team over the 90 and fully deserved the win. The Derby game at home was pretty even, but if any side should have edged a victory it was us.

Said it before, I’ll say it again now, and I’m sure I’ll say it again.

Our tactics are neandathol. We have no plan B. Yes we may somehow manage to blag a promotion this season, but it’s only going to end 1 way. His sacking.

I am bored to death of his football. And no I don’t only say it after a loss.

Boooooooring.
Like a bad penny.

Actually thought we did outplay Burton on the day and the 4-2 scoreline reflected this!

Outplayed? Outmuscled? Outthought? Outbattled?

All subjective surely?

We deserved to beat them yes, but we didn't outplay them.
