Curle royally fcuked up tonight, Hoskins in Center mid NO, then bring that lightweight ginger kid on for Oliver WTF. It was hilarious watching the ball hoofed up to Morton, he just get bullied off the ball.
Gingerone won the game for us at Mfield and should have started today...with Oliver - IMO of course.

A poor result but ironically a better performance than the one that saw us nick 3 points at theirs earlier in the season. Their keeper made 3 decent stops but other than that we looked pretty flat and as soon as they scored the game was lost.
The worry is we're happy enough to plod along at our own pace and hope we score but we're terrible at chasing the game when we go behind because we lack the ability to go up a gear; we just panic and aimlessly lob the ball forwards even more than usual.

blimey! how bad were we that day then?! 180 minutes of clueless dross the last 2 games - no goals the result of no creativity in the team - relying on throw ins and corners and aimless lumps forward - and at no point did we actually look like scoring. i suppose thats been the season though. and none of us should have to pay money to watch a centre half, a non entity and a competition winner as our midfield 3.

What a difference a week makes. A top three shot looks like history now. The next target is to stop the rot and it’s close enough to hang on around the play offs. It would be interesting to see if we are the last team to have a striker who has scored 20 goals in a season. They referenced it on the radio. It’s all very well having different players chipping in but you need that one player who can nick one consistently. There are plenty out there, we either don’t get them, or they don’t do it for us, or we sell them. The past week has totally changed the complex of the season and Keith (“and again”) Curle needs to pull something a bit different out of the bag for Saturday.

I must be in a minority - I thought we were second best in every department and Swindon really impressed me as a well drilled unit. Their keeper was impressive, the defenders won nearly every header and the midfield picked up on every second ball. I thought doughty, grant and Lyndon worked hard and we’re also decent on the ball and they clearly had scouted us thoroughly by playing 3 up top spread across the field. I lost count of the amount of times they caught us on the break and I agree with barton in that KC’s obsession with leaving 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 from our own set pieces was shown to be naive to say that least. We looked really disjointed all over and now the goals have dried up completely. First half Marshall was a danger but second half they must have done a job on him as he became anonymous. Lines came off and had a hissy fit but I can’t see that he has any grounds to complain - he is so lightweight it’s untrue, to state the obvious we desperately need McCormack back but I fear that even when he does eventually make his comeback he will soon break down again.

Hoskins & Williams both woeful last night...yet again KC takes off Oliver when he is the ONLY focal point for our hoof ball tactics...
Hoskins & Adams as wing backs were working so why change this? Marshall can easily play behind the strikers & would prove a bigger threat with his skill...or even give Warburton a proper run in the team in his natural position...
We've been sussed big time by the opposition & need a plan B

Blood and thunder football at its very worst for the second game running . We have now abandoned any concept of playing the ball in the floor or acting with composure . Quite honestly , it’s an embarrassment to the game of football to play in this manner . Two teams have now competed with us toe to toe and beaten us at our own game . Defensively , we look sound with our last ditch do or die attitude . The midfield are bypassed and the forwards are nowhere near strong enough to deal with the bombardment . All three forwards were once again poor last night . Use your brain Curle and let the players use their ability more .

I think that loan players are a two way thing....the parent club allows their player to go out and get some experience and the receiving club gets a player to strengthen their side. That all works well when the receiving club actually plays the loan players! If you look at some of our loanees in the past couple of years, the likes of Rose, Threlfall, Boden, Swailes, Wilkinson, Parker, Jarvis, even Craig King I get to thinking that the parent clubs might start wondering "why do we bother"?? A couple more results like we've had and I can see lots of disappointed punters Dave always delivers a munchy foot, manowork is a phillip,Significant investment was required in the early years just to fund the losses and ensure that a Northampton Town Football Club remained in business. So, if the income from the sale of players such as Johnson and Bunn went into funding some losses rather than being reinvested Well as cheered as 1500 or so can manage!! Not a bad first half, fairly equal first 25, then they bossed it or about 15, then equal again!! in the team so that Cardoza didn't have to put his hand in his own pocket for even more that year, then who would begrudge him that? Not me. The only way of seeing any of that investment returned is,don't read the fish between the lines of Chris ultimately, to be a more successful club, with larger attendances, in a higher division. If this is the aim of the chairman, then it is aligned with the aim of the fans. The goals are not mutually exclusive, far from it.But they couldnt just keep their mouths shut could they?? After all, they've just put next years season tickets on sale!!Well it was raised on Radio Npton, along the lines of can we get an update on the East Stand.......embarrassed silence and then errrr it's a legal dispute.. This was then repeated twice more before they moved to the next question so it's more than you suggest are interested.
Nurse has let him on the computer again...

Watched the game on Tintenet, first half performance OK but second half Swindon bossed it.Midfield was poor in second half, Marshall our best outlet hardly got a sniff in the second half.Seen Morton twice now over 90 mins both last night and at Maccie, he is a bit lightweight for me for this level particularly when he does not have a decent target man to feed off.I would have preferred us to have got a proven target man in the transfer window someone like Rose from Mansfield but I don't know the whole story about our supposed interest in him and why it never materialaised, I guess it was down to money. We will continue to be a difficult team to beat at this level, whether we make the play offs or an auto spot will be down to us putting the ball in the net more regularly, simple as that, if we don't then it will be mid table for us. Arsenal loanee seems to be our best hope of stopping the rot.

We were never a top 3 side. Main aim has to be 4th or 5th and hope for a decent playoff spot

I agree with all that. I can only think Oliver was taken off because he was in danger of being Sent Off. Oliver with Morton would have given the latter more of a chance to score. Williams with Morton - a Centre Half's dream if all you do is hump it up from defence at them.

For once I agree with you. Hoskins was having arguably his best season for us up until two games ago when KC moved him into the middle. Now he looks lost. Turnbull was part of our best back three but is now being played in midfield. Poor team selection from KC in the last two games which has left us looking disjointed in my opinion.

What worries me is that KC thinks he's some sort of tactical genius. How many times tonight did we nearly get caught out by only leaving one man back when we had a corner and they put 2 upfront and spread them wide, they broke on us every time. It's a massive ****, to say it's schoolboy stuff is an insult to schoolboys. KC thinks it's a good idea but no one else in football does it, so is he a tactical genius or just another stubborn manager ?
Totally agree with this. On the rare occasions that we get it on the floor we look like we have potential. But those occasions are so rare, that we resort to the same tactic to complete oblivion. Swindon were no great shakes. In fact I don't expect that at this level. But they tried hard to play football. Stubborn manager indeed.

I think we all know deep down that KC isn’t going to change our style any time soon so unless we are able to go back to bullying opponents (or McCormack miraculously has a body transplant), it does look like we’ve been sussed and there’s likely to be plenty of more cases where we come up on the wrong side of results in the near future.

I think it should be noted that Swindons manager wasn't even there yesterday due to illness and so they had an Assistant in charge. That assistant had more tactical awareness than Keith Curle. That for me brings massive alarm bells.
