So..... I started this thread. Do I retract my post? No.

Don’t get me wrong I’m delighted with our results. Am I happy with the “football”? No.

One moment summed it up for me today. Ryan Watson, IMO our best footballer tried to play football near our own area and was caught in possession. He was given a bollocking by KC and Goode. Next time he got it in a similar position he launched it as far as he could. Is that what I want to see? Again. No !!

I know what some will say. “Stop bloody moaning” etc. But am I wrong for wanting to be entertained for my £380 a year?

We simply have not got the players to play entertaining football at least not in the manner you anticipate or want. We might be able to sign a couple of players who give us some flair but for such players they come expensive. As an L2 side our opportunities are limited as is our scope to
sign flair players. What you fail to recognise is that KC has patiently built side, more accurately a team exemplified by the last three wins. I hope KC does not pander to selfish views for a mere £3 80. I would say that the side is beginning to win games the Cobblers way and is following in the footsteps of Dave Bowen, Carr and CW.

Stood with someone I know at half time and 2 folks I didn't know and we all agreed that the fare on show is poor, papering over the cracks was a term used . we are getting away with it as teams are coming here and not taking simple chances , we are pretty reliant on set pieces (not today though ), relying on Goode throwing himself to the floor whenever possible to gain free kicks

Yeah, the second best home record in the league, but we're just getting away with it as teams miss their easy chances.......and no other teams have players that throw themselves to the ground to try and gain free-kicks of course.

11 of our 40 league goals have come from set-pieces. To pick one team as a comparison, Bradford have only scored 6 more goals in total than the other 29 we've scored from non-set-piece situations. That's hardly being 'reliant' on set-pieces. The majority of those 11 set-piece goals were from corners, not free-kicks. Of course other teams rarely score from set-pieces.

We've also got one of the lowest corner-per-game averages in the division, so if our game plan is to 'play for set-pieces' then we're pretty bad at carrying that out:

https://www.fctables.com/england/league-2/corners/

Admittedly I don't know how up-to-date that table is.

I'm not trying to argue that the football's 'pretty', but saying that we're reliant on set-pieces after scoring 4 from open play today, and despite just over 25% of our goals coming from them, isn't remotely accurate.

Since we beat Stevenage 1-0, they've only conceded 1 goal in their last 4 league games (1 in 5 in all comps) and hammered Cambridge 4-0 away to today. Our performance against them was dire, but perhaps it was an even better result than it looked like at the time?

Ahh ok. I’m selfish now then am I? 👍🏼👍🏼 Idiot.

I’m expressing a view. I pay my £380 per season - I think I’m entitled to that.

Following in the steps of Bowen, Carr and Wilder?? Are you genuinely p*ssed? The current team isn’t fit to lace the boots of any of those teams.

Of course they are not. But that doesn’t mean that they are not doing a good job. What they lack in raw talent, they make up with hard work and determination. Decent league positions are consolidated by many methods. Curle has to use what has at his disposal. So far this season, both in the cup and the league, he has shown that he can get a reasonable tune out of a relatively run of the mill side.

What’s not being acknowledged is the lack resources compared to Wilder and possibly others. To the backdrop of all the discontent off the field and alleged lack of funding, we are experiencing a bit of an Indian summer. Now is not the time for a forensic analysis of every game, just an appreciation of what’s been achieved with very little, and against the tide of opinion.

This side at present reminds me very much of the Atkins promotion team, which during my time supporting the club is the closest we’ve been to the championship, despite the Carr and Wilder teams being far far superior both got picked apart. Not that I think this side will do something similar but it might have a better chance to build without the worry of bigger clubs taking key players.

Also going back to that ugly Atkins side it was amazing the addition just one flair player, Matthew Rush had to the style of play, who despite being at the club for such a short time is one of my favourite cobblers players.

Sorry evers, but when you directly reply to someone with quotes such as "fail to recognise" and KC not "pandering to such selfish views",  you do open yourself up to the response you received from tuks.

In my opinion.

Agreed, but it was an opinion that's all.  If he omitted the personal insults it would have made for a reasonable response. Of course that is my opinion. What is your opinion on Tuks second message?

I don't condone it, but on the same score, I wouldn't say that it was "over the top".

However, as mentioned, I feel you opened yourself up to it, so, if you hadn't made your original comments, you wouldn't have received the response.

I am sure that you wouldn't have said something like that if you were face to face, so maybe that should be something (and for a few others on here too) that should be had in mind when posting online?

Again, just my opinion.

tuks, are you really surprised that he got a rollicking for getting caught in possession on the edge of our box?

Well the cracks have well and truly opened up now !!!!

Let’s hope KC falls in one very quickly !!

Personally, I’d get someone else in now. We will NOT get promoted with this clown in charge. Fact.

Absolutely not. I never want my team to lose. But I do want them to at least try to play attractive football.

Why??

I'm sorry I just don't get it. From what I've seen so far he offers us nothing. NOTHING when are you happy

I'm pretty sure it was Martin mooheadness who said in his column last week that he was the main reason for our loss against insert name here as his tactics are up superb!! Eerrr hello is it me your looling ricthie !! Were you actually at the game no bt i was

I really really don't like knocking one of our own, but this is a guy who was playing in the championship last season, yet can control the ball further than Arthur Wilson can kick it, and who seems to have the touch of a cecil

Am I being overly harsh??
