Why not let this season run until end of Feb 2021? Play offs in March 2021? Plenty of time to slip the dates if need be.
Health & Welfare is way more important than football....
New season to start September 2021 (and not this stupid early start that has crept in over the last few years).
The strongest survive!

True, football is a distant second to that... Keep safe and healthy all.

Amen to that. Although a part of me hopes they void the season, just to see the scousers have a meltdown.

I think at the moment, like all aspects of life decisions need to be made almost on a day to day process, any sort of long term future planning seems pointless. It would be nice to think that those that can would help those in need instead of some of the selfish self interest that we’ve seen in society.

There would be a lot of us who would just "luv it" if that happened...

The Step 3/4 Leagues (Northern Premier, Southern and Isthmian) have all declared their wish to end the season forthwith, either declaring the season null and void or establishing a final table on a points per game basis. No final decision can yet be reached, this being dependent on what the National League decides to do and the reaction of the FA.

e I did see steps 5/6 do the same yesterday. Kind of makes sense with no end date in sight. How to decide final standings will be difficult and unpopular with some. The longer we go shut down the less bothered I'll be about this season now. There a bigger worries. But I get that there are livelihoods at stake - players and clubs. The thing is this virus isn't just going to go away suddenly one day and then the next we all congregate at football grounds. There has to be a period of quietly building up socially again. In my head I'm planning nothing til June - and to me that is too late to start this season again.

That would be beyond funny. Perhaps the FA could compensate them by letting them start with a home game?

I just heard that they think that the FA are reviewing all of their competitions with a possibility of the FA Cup being called null and void - how do we stand in terms of the prize money we picked up on our cup run? If the competition is voided does that mean we won’t get the £250,000?

From the Football Association: "The FA and NLS steps three to six have reached a consensus that their 2019-20 season will now be brought to an end, and all results will be expunged. This will mean no promotion or relegation of clubs between NLS steps three to six, and no promotion to NLS step two. These decisions will also apply to the leagues and clubs who play at NLS step seven. We will continue to assist and support the National League (NLS steps one and two) to determine the outcome of its 2019-20 season as quickly as possible. The planned implementation of the restructure of the NLS will also now be deferred until the start of the 2021-22 season. Furthermore, we can now confirm that we have decided that all grassroots football is concluded for the 2019-20 season. This will allow the game to move forward and to commence planning for next season. Our County Football Associations (CFAs) will be supporting grassroots leagues over the coming days to determine how they should close out their current competitions." Looks ominous for our league if the situation continues for much longer? http://www.thefa.com/news/2020/mar/26/national-league-system-womens-football-pyramid-grassroots-covid-19-update-260320

We could be looking at another suspension. That vaccine can't come quickly enough.

China and South Korea have shown us how to deal with this. If it re-emerges later this year we should be quicker to nail down on it. There is, of course, the alternative "Oxford" theory that a substantial proportion of the population has already had this virus and herd immunity is imminent and further outbreaks of this virus will be like flu (killing a certain number of elderly/vulnerable/weak immunity systems people every winter). This theory will soon be tested via those 3.5 million test kits the government has purchased. Use of already known techniques but not extensively tested yet (on this virus) will also help in the period prior to a Vaccine becoming available.

I said it a bit tongue in cheek as a bit of a laugh, but really, why can’t some boff work out some Duckworth Lewis type scenario based on say results this season, current form and the head to head results in corresponding fixtures? Not ideal but for the likes of Truro etc who are running away with the league it has to be the way? Scrapping the whole thing is a ridiculous proposal from the ever incompetent governing bodies. And whilst they’re in the same room (sorry on the video conference) perhaps the can use the spare time to sort out the financial rules and fit and proper ownership criteria at the same time? I’m sure their chairs at home are as comfortable as those in all those directors boxes, so there is no reason why they cant be hard at it whilst they are not drowning in the usual hospitality? I accept beans on cream crackers is no substitute for smoked salmon and caviar canapés, but I’m sure they’ll cope? Seemingly the ICC, w@nkers that they are, shine like beacons of success compared to this lot?

Stowmarket were on for a treble, had been unbeaten all season and on course for promotion from the step 9 Thurlow Nunn League. But that's all over and they have to start again next season. This after finishing last season on 102 points but runners up in the League.

Beans on crackers is a great idea. I have knocked up a few concoctions over the last few days, but never thought about that option. In the meantime, I am off to knock up fish finger and horseradish sandwiches. Hows things downunder? I hope that the fires havent left too much damage.

Part of the statement released by South Shields AFC. Rather long but interesting. Feel for them and totally agree...there are fairer ways to draw a line under the season now or in the future!
Over recent weeks the coronavirus outbreak has reminded us all – as if we needed it – that football is just a game.
Health must always take priority over sport and this is a virus which does not discriminate. It has affected us all and there is rightly huge worry over health and livelihoods across the world.
Our strong belief is that football will have a key part to play when life eventually returns to normal, whenever that will be.
Football binds so many of us together and is important to so many lives. Not important in the grand scheme of life and health, but important nonetheless. It provides a release to so many people once or twice a week and individuals the world over dedicate much of their lives to following their team and striving for every ounce of joy it brings. At its best it is a simply joyful game.
For that reason, we make no apology for making our feelings regarding the FA’s decision to declare the 2019-20 season null and void from step three of the non-league system downwards known.
As has been well-documented, ahead of the season being paused as a result of the coronavirus outbreak just 10 days ago South Shields sat top of the BetVictor Northern Premier Division, 12 points clear of our nearest rivals with nine games to play.
We will now never know how the remainder of the campaign would have played out but we have full confidence that our outstanding players and management would have completed the job and sealed promotion to National League North.
To have that prospect snatched away so quickly is something all players and staff at the club are finding understandably difficult to comprehend.
We do not understand the rush there has been among many quarters of the non-league game to conclude the season so quickly.
We recognise that many clubs simply do not have the resources to continue paying players and staff during an enforced lay-off such as this, with so much uncertainty over when football will return. But would it not have been more prudent to keep the season suspended until it is safe to return, end contracts as they would usually end following the completion of the season, allow clubs to re-assemble squads when the situation is more clear and then complete this campaign when the opportunity arises?
The FA’s decision has effectively punished those clubs further down the non-league system which have strived tirelessly over the last six months to progress up the pyramid. We stand alongside the many other clubs which find themselves in a similar situation and have already opened dialogue with some of them regarding the best way forward. We will write to the FA in the strongest possible terms so they are left in no uncertainty as to our feelings, and will seek to appeal if there is a mechanism to do so. If the response does not satisfy us we will seek legal advice.
We will seek clarification over whether, with all of the results of the 2019-20 season now annulled, all fines paid to the FA as a result of players picking up yellow and red cards in those matches will now be reimbursed. We will seek clarification over whether the FA will now refund all tickets bought by supporters for those annulled games. We will seek clarification over whether the FA will reimburse the costs accrued by clubs over the last six months for coach travel to away fixtures, which in our case equates to approximately £20,000. We have several other questions and look forward to the FA’s reply.
A further concern of ours is that, should coronavirus be ‘beaten’ over the summer months only to return in a frightening second wave next winter, results next season will also be annulled. It is our strong suggestion that the FA rule book is amended now so that such injustices do not occur again in the future. If seasons cannot be completed, we strongly disagree that they should be consigned to the history books. There are fairer ways to draw a line under things, including applying a points per game ratio to the standings and potentially promoting those in promotion positions and sparing those in relegation spots, leading to some leagues being slightly larger in number the following campaign.
We look forward with interest to see which way the National League season is finalised. What is the reason the FA has allowed step three of the non-league system downwards to be cut off from the pyramid in this way?
We also look ahead with interest to see which way other leagues higher up the pyramid – particularly the Premier League – are concluded should no more football be possible. Will the Premier League also be null and void should this happen?
