By the end of July is now being mooted. Tests on the Mansfield Sports paper - Oxford - Specials - Paul Hardcastle hit vaccine in Canada have proven to be successful!
IF the current research proves successful then confirmation byJuly/ August is a small possibility BUT the next task is to manufacture millions of vaccines before any mass gatherings, so unfortunately the end of the year is most likely.......at best!

Interesting article in the guardian here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/may/01/championship-plan-hold-play-offs-even-if-season-not-completed-promote-leeds-west-brom

In the advent of a premature end to the season, if League 2 follows this plan it would see the top 3 promoted automatically and then 'one-off play-off ties at neutral venues behind closed doors'. I guess we could potentially be playing Exeter.

Apparently Bradford have said that it is unlikely any fans will be allowed in until 2021.

When children of all ages go back to school surely it's deemed safe enough for their parents unless they are above a certain age or have underlying health difficulties. You're hardly going to be able to protect parents from their kids.

I'd emphasise protecting the vulnerable (over 60s, or whatever the mortality statistics suggest and those with underlying health issues relevant here) from Under 60 healthy people once those case numbers are under control and track and trace is a genuine possibility.

Keep the over 60s and vulnerable out (we can continue to self isolate) until we have a vaccine is what I'm driving at.

Far too early for the UK certainly but surely...……….

I think I saw something from Astra Zeneca saying if things go to plan with the vaccine testing then they expected to be producing the required tens of millions of doses by December.

Interesting to hear the premier league talking about playing not just the end of this season but the whole of next season behind closed doors.

Doesn't surprise me, they know that they can make more money from streaming the games live and not have to worry about policing and emergency services costs.

……………………….as long as SkySports, BT et al don't go bankrupt presumably.

They need to get players salaries down as well. Very substantial income through the gate will still need to be recovered somehow. The obvious place is player's contracts.

It'll be interesting to see how much of the Prems worldwide audience keeps watching games with no fans present. The crowd plays a more important part in the overall spectacle than many realise. I reckon there will be a significant and financially very damaging drop in global TV income whatever way they try to move things forward.

There'll be lots of 'crowd' outside of each 'empty' stadium making a noise, just won't be able to see them... Roll Eyes

Not going to give this its own thread but kinda interesting from Gloucs Live relating to our game at FGR in March, which of course never went ahead!

Gloucestershire Live: Meet the Icelandic Eurovision hopeful whose video went viral and who is a huge Forest Green fan.

Distinct possibility Id have thought, that the premier league clubs will come out of all of this even richer than they were when they went in it...

We already know that gate receipts only make up around 13% of clubs revenues at that level. If there is little live sport elsewhere, we are all stuck in our homes around the globe...the pull of any top flight live football on the tv will be massive, more so than it ever has been. And TV companies will want a slice of it.

Of course it does totally shaft the rest of the leagues. I honestly think a 'deal' will be done to finish the premier league off, no relegated teams...and an expanded premier league next season with no cup games/less cup games. That way they avoid any legal cases that potentially could happen.

Anythings a possibility at the minute. The longer the saga goes on though, I think the less chances of the lower leagues getting concluded. But £ will play its part at the top. Probably!

The Burton Albion pa announcer has a series of interviews lined up, apparently.
