Some good replies so far. My Dad always refers to Cliff Holton was his best striker he has seen and Frank Large also as others have mentioned. Obviously can't be included in my list as they were before my time from 1986. Carlo Carazzin gets a few mentions as does David Seal. And I've just thought of Chris Freestone. Nobody has mentioned Ivan Toney, perhaps because he wasn't around long enough and some other club are getting the best out of him. Keep 'em coming.
Cliff Holton - To me he was our best centre forward or striker when compared with all the others. Simply class and one hell of a shot! Always liked Bayo and amazed that Steve Howard not mentioned on here by the pundits??

Freestone. Ravineles "boot boy" chanted the Middlesboro fans. Quite an insult.

I always thought Eric Sabin was classy, or did he play wide, this was a time I might add that I was continually lashed up following the town!
Neil Grayson Jamie forrester Bayo Marc Richards David Seal Steve Howard Carlo Corrazin The doctor sir Kenny John Gayle (pure intimidation) Carl Heggs

Your right Sabin had the one thing some of the others lacked true Class. Never forget his display against QPR

Dixie McNeil deserves mention - 33 goals in 86 matches for us. Well over 200 league goals in his career.

Some people seem to be mentioning good forwards but who didn't score many goals (Like Sabin and Heggs) and other players who scored plenty of goals but weren't strikers (Holmes and Hill). If we go with the definition of striker as primarily a goalscorer here's my list, more or less in order:
Trevor Morley Bobby Barnes George Reilly Scott McGleish Bayo David Seal Jim Hall Jamie Forrester Marc Richards Tony Adcock

Strikers don’t just have to be top goal scorers, battering rams such as Steve Howard, although that’s possibly a touch unfair create so many opportunities for those around them, then you have players like Heggs who was plain and simply a pest! You can put McGleish in that mould too, but boy could he finish, I think the best train of thought should be who would be the best strike pairing the cobblers could put together over recent years.

I think Heggs and Gayle were probably one of my favourite pairings

Absolutely, having played centre half at a reasonable level (only a little above pub level I might add) I would have hated to play against those 2. 2 very underrated players and although we had big john Gayle at the end of his career I seem to remember him scoring 2 screamers for Birmingham City at Wembley In his early days

A Seal and Richards pairing would have been good, if not a little too similar.

I reckon John Gayle and Tony Adcock as a pairing would have been a handful?

My favourite pairing ever - Benjamin and Morley, genius on four legs! Adcock and Barnes were good, so much movement. If only we could have seen Bayo and Ricky Holmes together, Wow!

Steve Howard and Jamie Forrester for me but all time greats were :
Cliff Holton and Alec Ashworth pairing; its all about personal opinions and how long you have watched the Cobblers. Before the 60's there must have been others?

He didn't exactly set the place on fire but Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a decent loan period with us and from reports wanted it to continue. He seems to be doing ok right now and could end up one of our most capped ex-players.

Bobby Barnes was a quality signing back in the day A very exciting player....
Although not strikers two more attacking players that I thought had the X factor and excited you when they got on the ball would be
Matthew rush John hodge
A few players have that ability to excite Maybe not always centre forwards
We’ve not had many the last one was probably Ricky Holmes.
Another player who was very good was Jason dozzell his signing was a coup back in the day Il never forget his nonchalant penalty at kenilworth road. I wish there was footage of it somewhere.

Not quite top 10, but I thought The Simon Cox/Jordan Robertson we’re going to do the business in 2006/7, as youngsters who both scored 3 goals, in very few games, of course would John Marquis, have made the top 10, I thought he would have, had this upstairs managed to get their act together and signed him. Personally no mention of Martin Smith, sure not top,10, but definitely class!!
