Battery Man mentioned in a posting of GPC's that 7 of the teams were no longer in the League, which got my brain cell thinking 'how many of the teams I have seen against the Cobblers are no longer League Clubs?
I STOPPED AT TWENTY FIVE!
The sad thing is I've been to 22 of the grounds!
Aldershot Barnet Barrow Boston Bradford P A Bury Chester Chesterfield Dag & Redbridge Darlington Halifax Hartlepool Hereford Kidderminster Maidstone Notts County Scarborough Southport Stockport Torquay Workington Wrexham Yeovil York (Stevenage?)
Oh.......Rushden & Direones....ha ha ha!!!!
There might be more but the brain has overheated!
On reflection it makes one grateful for what we have, even if we still want more!

I have done 17 of them
Same here (or 19 if you count Stevo and the Diamonds, 20 if you really want to stretch it and count Chesterfield's old and new grounds)

What a shame Chesterfield's Prozac stadium only hosts non league football.

Gateshead left the league at the end of the 1959/60 season. I visited their current ground for an International Athletics meet sometime in either 1979 or 1980.

20, though have been to Southport, back around 85 season on a Boxing Day (derby v Marine!) Cobblers lost at home to Posh 3-0 or 4-1 I think.
Hoping (or was) for Barrow next season. Never did make Kidderminster with the Cobblers (nor Oxford City for that matter), living abroad when we played them.
Would welcome back Halifax, the Three Pigeons up the hill and a good day out in West Yorks!

Of those teams ,I think they have had a total of 34 grounds between them, Barnet 2, Bradford PA 2, Chester 2, Chesterfield 2, Darlo 2, Yeovil 2 and R&D 3 (Irthlingborough, Hayden Rd and then Nene Park) Not sure about Maidstone, didn't they play at Dartford ? The only ones I haven't been to are Barrow, Maidstone and Yeovil's old ground, I've been to both Bradford PA's grounds, saw the Cobblers at the old (League) ground and went to where they play now for a mid week pre season friendly when I was working up there a few years ago.

Maidstone did play in Maidstone until 1988 but it was not possible for them to get their old ground (the ground also hosted greyhound racing up until it was sold) up to league standard so they relocated to Dartford and played at Watling Street until they went bust. The first season at Dartford was the year they won the Conference.

I've seen us play at 18 on that list if you include R+D and Broadhall. Gateshead left the league at the end of the 1959/60 season. I visited their current ground for an International Athletics meet sometime in either 1979 or 1980.
That got me thinking. I watched us play and I competed at the Withdean. I did neither at the Don Valley. I've watched us play at Upton rd but have not been to the London stadium for any purpose. I've seen us play at Selhurst Pk and competed at the Crystal Palace stadium. I saw us play at Springfield Pk. Are there anymore league clubs with an athletic track or connections to track and field?

Been to Dartford (Maidstone Utd) for the Cobblers' 2-0 win there. Been Maidstone in Maidstone also. Forgot Rushden was on list...so rising to 21!

I've also been to 17 of those clubs to see the a Cobblers. I remember Barry Richardson's air kick down at Maidstone in a 1-1 draw, Steve Terry getting the a cobblers goal. The trip a Darlington was wear I first tried Tetley's bitter at 17 and it was very palatable compared to lager so I switched to become a bitter/ ale drinker ever since. Aldershot was the 4-1 win that was expunged from the records after they went bust. I remember the stewards opening the fencing separating the home and away fans so we could mingle and chat about our predicaments. I swapped scarves with one Aldershot fan, and still have it somewhere. Travelled down in 2 cars and the plan was to follow each other. Unfortunately we lost one another at Broadmead Avenue, 100 yards from my parents house and didn't see them again until we were in the ground. The days before mobile phones. Hereford was always a grim away day, poor results. Went to York on a Friday night, Pat Gavin scored. It was either 2-2 or a 2-1 defeat. My first away game was at Sealand Road Chester, Opening game of the 1987/88 season which we won 5-0. Been to the Deva for a drab 0-0. Chesterfield in 1994 for the 4-0 defeat which left us finishing in bottom place and a half-time riot on the pitch. Happy days, sad days, mad days, but always memorable following the Cobblers.
