I've had similar positive responses to the game of football that was served up, from people who would never normally dream of watching a Northampton game even on TV.
I think it stood out how fit both teams appeared to be, especially to anyone who had watched the earlier game between Exeter and Colchester which was played at a snail's pace. How I wish we had been playing one of those sides.
People were largely complimentary about us, saying we had the better chances in the game (no criticism of the style of play). Olayinka, Goode ("apart from the goal") and Morton were the three singled out as showing a bit of class by people who had never watched us before.
Received several messages yesterday during the Liverpool game saying they couldn't wait for the Northampton second leg, which was sure to be far more entertaining than the dross being served up.
Just hopeful that the result goes our way this time, but I don't think we shamed ourselves at all, we're probably more harsh on the standard of football in League Two than those who never watch it.
