And a third question. You pass through Northampton on your commute?..

Just one question, in relation to the post immediately before yours. Why are you nicknamed The Grecians?
Actually, a second question too! Why would you consider us the favourites? I think a lot of Cobblers supporters think the other way around.
Two schools of thought on this one and nobody really knows. First on a group of lads years ago playing football were known as the 'greasy ones' and the other is linked to a garage near the ground. The links to Greece came out of the Athena the mascot and the gladiator we used to have a few years back - only Exeter would have human mascots! There is a strong link between the island of Andros in Greece and Exeter, more recently our London Exiles do an annual tournament in Andros against the locals for the last 10 years. We have a small following in Greece as a result. As for the favourites, you have the bigger playing budget, bigger crowds, more resources, you are a big physical team compared to us. You have also dabbled with more success at Wembley. We have injuries in the squad. A few more useless factors in 2014, 300 Exeter fans travelled to Brazil to celebrate with another friendly with Fluminese. (Spelt correctly?), which are the colours of an old third strip. UTC TVR

I worked in Northampton for a while, now work on the other side as I live near Oxford.

Goodluck for next season.
Thanks never forgotten the last game in 1995, so much stronger now and hopefully we keep building, as a co-operative club we matched Pompey in the Leasing Cup with the our youth team kids. So excited to see them play some more.

The nickname the Grecians came from the large Greek Orthodox community that lived in Sidwell around the time the club was formed (at the beginning of the 20th century). The original name of the club was Sidwell United but changed it’s name a few years later to Exeter City Association FC however the nickname was retained.

That sounds pretty conclusive...

I thought our normal game didn’t involve the pitch surface

I thought our normal game didn’t involve the pitch surface f That’s a bit harsh. To be fair, it’s only that bit of grass in midfield that we’re not interested in...

Good ol’ Buster puts the Exeter guy to shame! Good info well done!

Whatever the result tonight we reached the play offs, maybe fortuitously, and have won our way to a Wembley final. We were also the last division 2 side to be eliminated from the fa cup so KC and the team can look back on the season with some satisfaction. However, let's put the final cherry on the cake and having lost 2 Wembley finals in the last 3 years Exeter can go home singing "we can't get no satisfaction".

Me too. However, as WS OAP said last division 2 side in the FA cup and made Wembley, outstanding effort by everyone at the club. Following the post Wilder struggles they’ve exceeded all my expectations anyway. I really hope they enjoy the experience. I feel a bit for them as they have been robbed of the fans appreciation on the day, but I hope they know that every one of us will be there in spirit. If you read this, well done chaps, whatever the outcome. I’ll have to stop now, I’m filling up.
