I have got to hold my hands up here. I have not been his biggest fan since his time here. The style of football at times built my frustration so high, watching aimless balls go back to front with no end product. My frustration was due to the fact that I knew we had better players than that!

I hated the zonal marking, the leaving one man back against 2! Always seemed a nice chap, but did not think he was taking us up.

Well I was wrong, delighted to be so. Keith handled himself with class throughout the process, I am delighted he has got this club promotion and I am delighted for him personally. The addition of Morton has been so big its crazy, having a forward with pace to work with Oliver has transformed us as well as balls going in the box from better areas. Yes its direct, but its the pressing, the intensity, the full blooded challenges, the no craps given for how we play that I have loved watching recently.

No league 2 club plays like Barcelona, watching the prem games recently, have they been entertaining? No. As was said yesterday, teams cannot deal with the way we play and we have definitely grown in what i have to remind myself is a short period of time in which he has been here.

Ever since Wilder left we have been a club searching for identity, getting through overpaid players and a ton of managers searching for something. Keith Curle has brought us that. So thank you Keith, and apologies from me, I was wrong!

Totally agree. A non Cobblers fan friend told me last night that he couldn't understand the moaning about the direct play, he would rather watch that than Man City passing about for 10 minutes. As he said, proper old fashioned football!

Fundamentally the football was crap to watch for many games last season, it would be dishonest to claim otherwise, however what I think we must do now is give KC the credit he deserves for turning things around.

When he took over we were aimlessly passing the ball around and losing (a lot) at the bottom of L2. We had big earners who were not interested (KVV, Taylor etc), some who needed to be moved on for various reasons (Pierre, Powell, even O'Toole), and others who were clearly past their best (Buchanan).

He's significantly reduced the wage bill, transformed the attitude of the group and got the team disciplined. His work in the recruitment department has been excellent with the likes of Adams, Goode, McCormack, Wharton etc all bringing the "winning mentality" we lacked before.

Arguably he's also won promotion with a pretty squad in a terms of strikers, with no real stand out players at this level until Morton arrived.

Lastly, whilst the curtailment of the season almost undoubtedly worked in our favour as we were losing momentum, Curle deserves great credit as of all 4 managers involved in the play offs he seems to have used the downtime the best, brought the squad up to speed the quickest and ultimately he's gained the rewards.

Well done Keith.

Keith Curle was given a job to do. He has more than filled his remit.

I'm really hoping that we can kick on from this, and people can start to lay off the club and the team. Curles comments about the club and the unity of the whole set up, are echoed throughout all that work there. So the ridiculous comparisons that the detractors use about Cardoza, have hopefully been laid to rest and we can look forward to a more united front. I am satisfied more than ever, that the support on the whole are behind the club.

As I have said before. With the exception of a very small minority, we have a very united support base. Lets look forward to football in league one, with decent crowds and some great away days.

Keith, the way you have motivated the players in the last week has been nothing short of miraculous. The fact you've led us to a 4-0 victory at Wembley puts you into folklore territory. I've throughly enjoyed my slices of humble pie and wish you many more successes with us now.

Are you on a mission?

Definitely not and no agenda’s for me. I did stick an emoji to hint it was made on a humorous basis. Surprised that you missed the humorous hint.

After the first leg against Cheltenham I said on here "this isn't the manager or style of football to get us promoted", but what's followed has been the most dominant 180 mins of football I can remember seeing from a Cobblers team, against two of the best sides at this level. Great job Keith, the humble pie is delicious Grin

It's funny as I watched it with someone who doesn't watch much football and they really enjoyed it. They said we didn't mess around and it was far more entertaining that watching England pass it around for 5 minutes without anything happening.

There is a difference having pace and strikers causing hassle, as opposed to a centre half (bypassing the midfield) aimlessly hoofing it up to a lone striker with little chance of creating anything.
I don't think there was anything wrong with that style of play last night.

Well done Keith.

I can only echo what Clarkey has said above. I don't think everything was rosy throughout the season because it wasn't; at times it was dire, to be honest, but we ground out more results than we didn't and found ourselves there or there abouts when it counted (on top of which we had a brilliant cup run). The last two games (well, three really because I'd include the game we lost in this, given a modicum of luck going our way) showed that our direct style, when applied correctly, can turn us into an absolute juggernaut that crushes all in its path.

I do think we played differently in the play offs - the long ball was still there but it seemed more targeted and less of a mindless lump up the field to no one in particular. I don't know, maybe that's what we've been trying to do all season and it hasn't been coming off. Maybe the fact we had no crowd there getting on their backs when they made a mistake took the pressure off and made them less jittery and better able to control the long ball. Who knows, but whatever the reason it showed what we are capable of under Curle and at this point I'd be gutted if he didn't sign a new deal.

Spot on ....am worried that some Club will now try to poach him a la Forest with CC. Still remember the debacle which followed CW jumping ship!

I think we'll be ok;

1. Wouldn't other clubs look at the automatically promoted sides managers' first ?
2. Curle is 56 so something of a veteran in comparison with CC and CW when they were enticed to more lucrative positions.

A non Cobbler supporting friend of mine said how much he enjoyed the game. "Proper old fashioned football and none of this passing back and forth like Man City". I know what he means .
