Ricky ( would have him back in a heartbeat) Holmes scored twice for Farnborough in their 1-2 victory away to Chippenham Town.

Any local teams in their league? Would love to watch him play.

I only live 20 minutes from Farnborough and keep meaning to go and see them, I'll have to make an effort... Sad

Feedback from my Rotherham supporting contact is that McWilliams is shît and we can have him back. Perhaps a swap with Eaves might be in order.

The goals he scored in the championship season were amazing not sure we'll ever see so many in a single season again

Farnborough v Torquay 1-0 HT - Ricky Holmes (pen)

I love it when I see ex-league players still playing when they are getting long in the tooth. It shows a proper love for the game.

1-0 FT
Attendance: 1505 (although I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd said over 2000?)
At least a couple of hundred from Torquay who, from the couple I spoke to prior to the game, didn't have any expectations for the season. Very downhearted and pessimistic about their plight.
I had a chat with Ricky after the game and, amongst other things, he said
"The best time of my career at The Cobblers, loved it there"  Wink

He tired and was subbed in the 75th replaced by Manny Oyeleke!!

Fair play to Andy Woodman for two wins in the first two games for Bromley.

Still keeping an eye on former Cobblers....

Bowie came on as a second half sub in Hibs' League Cup defeat against Celtic on Sunday.
Matty Warburton scored for Solihull Moors in their 2-1 win over Maidenhead in the National League
Billy Bodin scored twice for Burton in their 3-3 draw at Mansfield
Tyreece Simpson started for Stevenage but was replaced at half time by Louis Appere in Stevenage's reverse at Huddersfield
Matt Grimes was on the scoresheet for Swansea as they beat Preston in the Championship.

Tonight, Simpson scored the only goal as Stevenage overcame Crystal Palace U-21's in the Trophy and Manny Monthe scored his first Oldham goal in their draw with AFC Fylde.

Manny Monthe scored his first Oldham goal in their draw with AFC Fylde.

He's already approaching legendary status amongst some of the Latics following!

Three wins out of three for Farnborough after their win over Eastbourne Borough last night, the season has started well for player/coach Ricky...

Not Cobblers but Northampton related, Kasey McAteer made his Prem debut appearance for Leicester the other night.

I've got a bit of a soft spot for Farnborough after I went to see them play a friendly against Crystal Palace while Micky Warner was playing for them and I was at a loose end while on a course down there.

Quite a friendly bunch and I had a good chat with a few of them during the game.

Yesterdays roundup for the former Cobbs....

Simpson started and was subbed off on 70 minutes for Appere, this seems to be the usual move for Stevenage, Goode was an used sub for the reds too in their 0-0 draw at Burton, a game which attracted a league 1 low crowd of 2,378.
Keshi Anderson scored early for Birmingham in their 2-1 win at Leyton Orient, Marc Leonard was subbed off after 55 minutes. Also subbed off was Shaun McWilliams after 75 minutes of Rotherham's 2-0 defeat at Wycombe. Byron Webster, at the ripe old age of 37, scored a consolation for Bromley in their 3-1 loss at Bradford. Sam Sherring played the full 90 for the Dons as they brushed aside Carlisle 3-0. Manny Monthe also got in 90 minutes as Oldham were stuffed 4-1 at Aldershot.
Kieron Bowie came off the bench and within 8 minutes had scored his first Hibs goal in their 2-2 home draw with Dundee. Scott Pollock and Morgan Roberts were oth on the scoresheet for Brackley as they dispatched Curzon Ashton 4-0 in the Vanarama North.

Not a former Cobbler, but Max Dyche scored to set Woking on the way to a 3-0 win at Ebbsfleet.

Well done to Kieron Bowie, hopefully the first of many.
